Metal in Oklahoma

A friend and I are working on a demo for a metal show...

We plan on focusing on a lot of new artists...

Any suggestions, comments, etc...?

i.e. artists we should feature, artists we should avoid at all costs, etc...

Great idea! Some bands I'd love to hear on the air are Sevendust, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Soil, Static-X, Messuggah, Coal Chamber, Older Megadeth, Sepultura, Ministry, Motorhead, White Zombie, Mudvayne, Hatebreed, Deftones and Killswitch Engage just to name a few. I wish you luck.

I did a Metal Show on "The Bone" in Dallas. I have my final playlist on my MySpace page, maybe that can give you some ideas.

Good luck!

Channing :)

Hey, Channing.

Welcome to T-town.

I hope you enjoy your stay at Shamrock.

I spent several years in the market. You'll enjoy Tulsa.

Hey thanks! :) I was actually born and raised in Tulsa so it's a homecoming for me. :)

Very good. Did you get your start in radio in Tulsa? Where else have you worked?

Where did you go to school?

Welcome HOME!

No, I got my start in Dallas. I first Produced "Dr. Toni Grant" then I went to KLLI-FM (Hot talk), then KDGE, KKND (New Orleans) and KDBN. Now KMYZ and KTSO in Tulsa. :)

I went to Jenks. :)

Welcome back to Tulsa! Maybe your influence on KMYZ will help Tulsa rock radio not sound so 2 years ago.
I personally love to see KMYZ go in a more active rock direction. More Mudvayne, Pantera, Sevendust, etc. These bands tear it up, but get no airplay in Oklahoma. I lived in the Phoenix area for 8 years and was spoiled with hearing them regularly in daypart on 98 KUPD or the best active rocker anywhere. Best of luck in Tulsa!

Aww...thanks. :) I am home (graduated from Jenks) :) AND unfortuantly, I don't have any say on what gets played. :( I would LOVE to hear ALOT of bands on Tulsa radio (or in OK for that matter). The metal audiance IS out there but it's a business in the end. If a station doesn't make money, they flip to a more money making format. Maybe the sales peeps are targeting the wrong clients and stereo typing us metal heads as pot smokers and the head shops and tattoo places are the only places we go to spend $$$. ???? LOL I have LOTS of friends that are way into metal but out grew the head shops and tattoo places. They drive nice cars, own homes, have kids etc. and are being IGNORED. Awww well, what ya gonna do, eh? :) Anyhow, thanks agin, it's good to be HOME! OH, BTW...I got word, I am LIVE tomorrow night. LOL I wasn't suppose to start until Monday. I am being thrown to the wolves and I LOVE IT! :)
