I got it the first time. I could see sneaking in a few bands like that during the afternoon drive perhaps. But extreme metal is such a niche that overall audience wouldn't be into it. They'd hear it on the radio, wrinkle their brows and more than likely tune out until it was over. And you'd HOPE they'd dial back to you sometime during the day.A rotation MUST appeal to the most people at any givne time, otherwise a fractured audience really won't keep a steady stream of cutomers into advertisers' businesses.Trust me, I get what you're saying.I'd like to see more active rock stations merge in new/underground artists every now and then who are parallel in sound to the core of the station and can keep the audience intrigued as to WHAT will play next. Expanding the number of bands in your playlist should always be a good thing, never a risk.Of course the type of show I run is just insane extreme music for two hours and that niche audience is there week after week. And it's only growing...You can always pop in a Lamb of God, Soulfly, or Trivium track and still keep your average rock listener engaged, IMHO. For that listeners it may be branching out to something new for a listener such as myself, it endears me to the station that plays these artists.MaDSaM26 said:I have heard and recieved those bands for a metal feature! I mean a variety in regular roatation. For example 7am - 7pm. Would you really play Zykon or Fragment of Unbecoming at 9 am? Get what I am saying.
