Metallica on Sunny 99.1???

Could this be true? Well...no, I haven't heard Metallica on Sunny and you all probably haven't either. But since they are playing a good chunk of late 70s and early 80s rock music. I always hear "Two Tickets To Paradise" and "Any Way You Want It," even "Free Fallin." Sure, Metallica is nothing like Journey, Eddie Money or Tom Petty, but they do play Kiss, even though it's a ballad. I am just making a guess on what Sunny will be in the future. Will more rock songs creep in the playlist, mixed in a pot of Rob Thomas, Player and Kelly Clarkston? Something tells me that soon I will be hearing "Nothing Else Matters" by the time the decade is in its rebellious teen years. Then again, Sunny might morph into a rock station in the future, who knows?

Since CC has access to a very large music library, mistakes have happened where songs that don't belong wind up on the wrong station. A case in point would be in Beaumont where a song from the 1990s crept onto Cool 92.5 one weekend. I suspect that sometimes when the stations are on autopilot that this is more likely to occur.

Wow, imagine if this were to happen at a CC Country station. Kevin Fowler "Best Mistake I've Ever made", then Alan Jackson "Good Time" and the WHAMMM!!!!! "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt! jeez, wouldn't want that to happen now do we?

I doubt this happened by mistake at Cool. It is not uncommon for an oldies station to reach into other decades and grab music. The Point has proven that by going way past the 80's and gravin songs from the 2000's! I guess it is no longer a shock to me as it is to you.

Mistakes, like this, are rare to common, depending on the format differences between the mistakes and have happened on Sunny, as well. A couple of years ago, give or take a month or two, Marc acknowledged, the morning afterwards, that a Tejano song had crept onto the air by mistake, during JT's tracked afternoon stint, the day before. It was written off as a joke, on-air, and behind the scenes, it was Oops.

Could Metallica end up on Sunny? I wouldn't rule out anything, these days. Sunny is definitely sounding far different, in many ways, than in years' past. I've noticed an incorporation of some portions of Mix's typical playlist on Sunny, these days, and they are playing more rock from the 70s and 80s. I heard Madonna's "Like a Prayer," a couple of days ago, and almost fell from my seat. Per my musical tastes, the change sounds good, but with a web-published playlist of only 561 songs on Sunny, some call it "variety;" others, call it not enough of a playlist to sustain true "variety." For saying that, I'm sure I'll be 'Unforgiven!' ;)

Maybe not Metallica, but I sure as day heard "Living On A Prayer" from Bon Jovi this morning. A far cry from the "KOMA" that KODA used to be. During Casey Casem's AT 10 a couple of weeks ago, I heard "Rock Star" from Nickelback. Definitely not a song that fits into Sunny's natural rotation.

Just to confirm. I did not see anybody wearing a Sunny 99 T-shirt all night at the Heaven & Hell / Judas Priest concert!! Great show though. Its too bad no one plays hard rock on the radio anymore.... Oh the good old days!
