Meteorologist change at WCVB

It was officially announced today. Also, Kelly Ann Cicalese is moving from weekends to weekday mornings to take Cindy’s current role. I’m surprised she’s still at WCVB - as an on-air presence, she’s the weak link in a strong team of meteorologists.
 
Actually, I caught the tailend of the announcement last night during the (tardy) 11pm news
 
Was this WANK'S choice? I imagine it was, though if the evening slot was still available to him, would he have retired?
Saw Cindy Fri night and she turned her smile on after her 'cast and never shut it off.
 
I imagine it was, too. But this is a weird time in broadcast. The Today Show essentially pushed Hoda Kotb out the door last year by allegedly offering her a new contract at a considerable reduction in compensation from her previous one. The party line was that Hoda wanted to do something else, but the reality was that her choice was influenced by the fact that she wouldn’t be making as much money.
