Longtime Connecticut weatherman Geoff Fox dies at 75

Geoff Fox, a longtime meteorologist on Connecticut TV, has died at 75 following a return of his pancreatic cancer.

He was a staple on Connecticut News for decades.

Fox was born in New York City, graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School. He received his certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University.

He got his start in radio and landed his first TV gig as the local host of “Evening Magazine” in Buffalo, N.Y. In 1984, he joined Connecticut’s WTNH and spent close to three decades forecasting the Nutmeg State’s weather. He also served as the host of “Inside Space” on Syfy, when the cable network was still called The Sci-Fi Channel.

In 2011, he briefly transferred to FOX61 before eventually moving with his wife to California. There, he built a studio in his home and provided weather forecasts for stations locally and nationwide, temporarily returning for a summer stint on WTNH in 2017.

During that time, he remained active on social media, detailing his initial 2016 diagnosis and treatment for pancreatic cancer. He announced the cancer had returned this September and that he was beginning at-home hospice care.

I hired Geoff as PD of KRUX in Phoenix back around 1974 to work with Kent Burkhart as we transitioned to a gold based "modern" AC. He had been with Lund at WGAR, and was very familiar with the concept. Geoff even stayed with me in the guest bedroom as he got established.

I knew the name was ringing a bell and couldn't remember why till you mentioned WGAR.
