Metro area cable company shuts down operations

The Acworth Cablenet system, started by the city government in Acworth in 2001, and sold to Conyers based Klip Interactive in November 2005, will be shutting down operations in Acworth. The customer base is being turned over to Comcast. Transition will take over the next 4 months.

The City of Lawrenceville keeps making noise that they'll compete aginst Charter and undercut their rate, because "they're a corporation and need to show a return. We're a municipality and dont need to." I bet thats what Acworth said six years ago and then regretted it almost immediately.

As much as people bitch about Comcast and Charter's rate hikes, all that cable marketing is like a king-fu grip on the consumer. Its hard to change.
