Metro Fairfield County Ratings Updated 01/15/25

What happened, knowing that 95.9/The Fox was Mainstream Rock in Oct. '24 with a 0.6 then flipped to NewsTalkInfo 600WICC/WFOX-FM with no numbers now also with the 107.3 W297CP 250 watt Translator?

Why don't we see WRKI?
I know. Even though we know Danbury is in Fairfield County & I-95 can be heard in Danbury, Fairfield County & beyond (NY, MA, online, app, etc.) the ratings are in two different markets - Danbury, #196 & Metro Fairfield County, #73. You would think that there would be some overlap into the Metro Fairfield County book for I-95 & its monster, killer signal. We know that's the way ratings work with other markets, too - even though a powerful station is in one market and overlaps into another, it might or might not be listed in that markets' ratings. HCN, YZ, DRC-FM, PLR, MRQ & NTY show up in both the Hartford & New Haven books.

WFOX is now simulcasting WICC, so listening to 95.9 is included in WICC's numbers.

WRKI hasn't shown up in this survey since July 2022.

What would determine whether a station appears in more than one book? Obviously many stations do. Does a station need to elect (pay) to be included in more than one?

The station once marketed itself as being the rock station for Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Bridgeport, etc. After all, WRKI calls itself I-95. That's the Interstate Highway number for the Connecticut Turnpike. The RK stands for Rock and the I for Interstate. And it happens to be on 95.1 MHz. With no rock music on 95.9, you'd think those listeners would migrate to 95.1

The map on Radio-Locator.com shows it should cover those coastal communities. But its tower is actually five miles north of Danbury. So maybe that's stretching the signal too far? .

Don't forget that WPLR is just as strong as, or even stronger than, WRKI in the eastern (northern, if you're thinking in Interstate 95 terms) part of Fairfield County. It should pick up some of those former 95.9 listeners.

Stations need to subscribe to Nielsen to show up in the public numbers.
Non-subscribers can (and do) show up in the unpublished numbers that subscribers see. There are several NYC stations that show up in the Fairfield book but do not subscribe to Fairfield and therefore don't show in what is show publicly.
