Rumor has it Metro Networks now pulling out of all medium sized markets...Tucson included. D.O. Alan Kath let go today. So maybe it isnt a rumor after all huh?

So what's left? Cheap Channel traffic?
But doesn't that originate in......Phoenix? :eek:

Alan Kath is one hell of a great and down to Earth person! I sure hope someone opens the doors wide open for him somewhere in Tucson.

The traffic reports out of Phoenix sadly are a joke. Heard some lady on one of the CC stations about a week ago (think it was the Mountain) completely mispronounce two different city streets in the same report!

You could actually hear her slow down just before she got to the name of street and just knew she had no idea what it was or how to say it for that matter.

Personally I don't care if the traffic person is in Alaska, but if you're a company as big and powerful as CC, you should really have your on air folks do their homework and know what the heck they are talking about.
 
What a waste if Tucson loses him. Would he leave town or get into a different career?
 
I find it very sad that Alan Kath has been on Tucson radio longer than most broadcasters in this market (maybe longer than Bobbie Rich? not sure) yet there are only a few posts on this board. I truly believe that Big Al deserves better than that. Common people! Nobody ever gave better in depth traffic reports.
 
All I can say is that it really sucks when you have worked for a company for almost 20 years..and they leave you high and dry! But thats Metro for you. I'm sure Alan will land squarely on his feet somewhere.
 
can anyone give me info about Metro possibly closing offices in other medium markets? (which cities? )
 
what im hearing is that metro is pulling out of any market that is not market size 50 or lagrer. so basically any medium or small size market metro employees..may want to start talking to thier stations about becoming an employee of those respective stations. otherwise u could be caught with your pants down...saying "would u like fries with that?"
 
If Allen Kath was let go, why is he still doing traffic?

I think Metro is staying here, but they've already been limited by CC and Citidel's evil partnership.
