Mets Now On WOR

Just noticed that the Mets' games are now on WOR (710-AM) Radio. I know they were previously on WFAN (660-AM) for some years. With the season beginning there this afternoon, I'm just wondering how that change is being received in the Big Apple?

From a reception standpoint, I know WOR's signal is not received as well in some areas of the country due to it being so close to WLW on the AM dial.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Discussed in the thread linked below (and others) when the story broke on November 4, 2013:

As far as knowledge of this story goes, I'd have to give major slack to the original thread-starting poster "Cincinnati Kid" since judging from the content of his post and his handle I'd assume he's from the Cincinnati area.

In general, though, it goes to show that no matter how much media coverage and promotion there is for a particular story, not everyone is aware of a programming change until it actually takes effect. There were likely lots of casual Mets fans tuning in to hear the Mets on WFAN on Opening Day (Monday afternoon 3/31/14) and instead were hearing the dulcet tones of the Sports Pope Mike Francesa. Likewise, there'll be casual Yankees fans tuning to WCBS 880 on Tuesday 4/1/14 to hear the Yankees and instead they'll hear news and traffic + weather together followed by Nets-Rockets NBA basketball.

I'm not a big Mets fan when it comes to WOR. I looked at the signal pattern that WOR has a daytime signal when you pick it up to hear the Mets if you are in Poughkeepsie or any of the HV listening area, that's fine. But when nighttime comes, you cannot be able to pick up WOR because of the evening games with the Mets since it interferes with Cincninnati's WLW. I guess maybe Hudson Valley cannot pick up the Mets on WOR at night, that stinks. WFAN had the Mets last year since it has been since 1987 when it was originally on 1050 and then moved to 660 a year later in 1988 and remained on that station until last year. Now the Yanks are going to WFAN to carry the games which is now going to be simulcast on WKXP/WZAD's "The Wolf" which is a country station as now part of Townsquare's cluster.

I hope maybe one of the CC Hudson Valley stations might be carrying the Mets either WKIP which hasn't been carried the Mets since the 1970's or the one in Ellenville which is "Comedy 1370" that should help, or any of the CC Hudson Valley cluster to promote Mets baseball or listen to it on iHeartRadio when streaming.

Like I said, "The Wolf" will still be carrying Yankees baseball on a country station by tomorrow afternoon, and it is going to simulcast on WFAN either on AM or FM. If I can listen to the Yanks on "The Wolf" as a country station, it will sound the same as it is going to heard on WFAN on the FM side rather than AM.

seems WOR is re--airing Mets games overnight. I mean--- Mets losses.
More $$$ for clear channel ?
