Mets on Albany Radio?

According to Scott Fybush's Northeast Radio Watch recent "Baseball On the Radio" report, WOFX will be carrying the Amazings again this year. I would assume they would carry all the games since they are all sports and their ratings are anemic.

Remember when WKIP used to carry the New York Mets? That was back in the 1990's, but they don't carry Mets game in the Hudson Valley anymore. If WKIP or any station will bring back the New York Mets for next season, look at station that carries the game. "The Wolf" is the flagship station for Yankees baseball. Whatever happen to any HV stations to carrying the Mets? I guess WFAN carries it, but in the Hudson Valley area did not carry the Mets, only the Yankees.

The Mets and Fox Sports 980 - perfect together! :D

The WFAN METS Radio network has lost most of its affiliates. I believe 980 WOFX, Albany is the only station other than WFAN carrying the Mets. It could be in part to lower ratings due to the lack of success on the field in recent years (I am a Mets Fan). However, I often wondered, unlike the Yankees radio network, the Mets radio says at every opportunity “This is the WFAN METS Radio network”. Since WFAN’s big nighttime signal covers most of the northeast, it could cause confusion at ratings time, and listeners report what station they are listening to. If I were a station owner, I would not want my listeners hearing WFAN constantly.

A board operator can easily fix that.

The network liner plays "This is the WFAN METS Radio network" and a board operator can add a recorded liner immediately after that "on FOX SportsRadio 980 WOFX." And who ever voice the network liner can voices the local liner.

In the 90s I was a fan of The New England Patriots and I'd be listening to the game on 93.7 The 70s Station here in Hartford and I remember this:

Network Liner: "You're listening to the WBCN New England Patriots Rock Radio Network".
Local Liner (Voiced by the guy who did the network liner) "on 93.7 The 70s Station and News-Sports 910 CNN."

Side Note #1: I stopped being a Patriots fan years ago. Here in Hartford after 93.7 went Hip-Hop in 2001 the games moved over to Marlin Broadcasting's 106.9 The Rock WCCC. WBCN went away a couple years ago and the Patriots moved over to the new 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Side Note #2: Although there's no other radio station call letters or slogans mentioned I've heard locally inserted liners inserted onto some syndicated radio shows.

Hartford Example: Delilah: You're Listening to Delilah (short pause) Delilah: on Lite 100.5 WRCH.

Bridgeport Example: Clark Howard: This is the Clark Howard Show. (Pause) Clark Howard: on 600 WICC.

WOFX would have to make sure the ID would be loud enough to cover the "Let's Go Mets... F-A-N!" sounder that follows the "WFAN Mets Radio Network" prompt...
