MeTV FM

What is the format? Is it oldies like their TV line up?
It's the same as the MeTV FM in Chicago. True 60's centered oldies. Target is mostly folks over 70.

What an incredibly bad concept. They'll find out soon enough that Hurrycane, life insurance and drug companies that target oldsters with classic TV aren't interested in making radio spots because there's no visuals. That, and older demographics won't go out of their way to support advertisers/sponsors of a particular radio station. They expect the stations sole purpose is to entertain them, period.

How do you feel about having MeTV FM in the DFW area?

Typically the way this works is you need to have a TV station in the market owned by Weigel. You do, and it's KAZD Channel 55. They run MeTV on their DT2, and MeTV Plus on their DT3. So the foundations are there.

What need to happen next is for a local radio station to make a deal with Channel 55 to bring MeTV FM to Dallas. Weigel might be supportive of this station to promote the TV station. But someone needs to make a deal. If it happens, it'll likely end up on a HD2 or 3.

But ... but .... it's the greatest music of all time, man's crowning creative accomplishment, far superior to anything before or since! We boomers can't let our music die! We mustn't! <sarcasm>

Then tell me by WRME-LD in Chicago shows up with a 1.4 in the ratings? I think i recall they just hired a new PD recently, and Theyre obviously paying for the ratings book because its worth it, meaning they use it to get bigger regional/national buys and are getting them

They are not getting national buys unless you consider a bonus for a MeTV television order to be a "buy".

Agencies just don't buy 55 and over for radio campaigns. WRME gets much less than a 1 share in 25-54. All its audience. In December, it's 25-54 was a 0.4 and it ranked 36th. No agency buys 36 deep.

It's 20th in 12+, and only in 65 and over does it even get near the Top 10... at 11th in December. Again, no agency buys that deep against any demo.
