MeTV in Rochester

WHEC-TV has brought MeTV to Rochester as its 10.2 subchannel, for those who enjoy reruns of a lot of old classic shows (along with some more obscure ones). They bumped their 24/7 weather service down to 10.3, which means if you still have to have your local weather 24/7 you'll need to rescan your set for it.

A quick look at MeTV leaves the impression it's a lot like TVLand used to be before it started doing original programming like "Hot in Cleveland".

With 10 now streaming MeTV and weather on its subchannels, 13 using its subchannel 13.2 to provide CW network programming in Rochester, 21 feeding both a main channel and two subchannel streams (a documentary channel on 21.2 and a how-to instructional and travel channel on 21.3) and 31 feeding the CoolTV music video network on 31.2, that leaves WROC Channel 8 as the only station in the market programming only its main channel. Wonder if and when Channel 8 will do something with its 8.2 and 8.3 subchannels? Anyone know if there are plans on Humboldt St. to make use of those subchannels?

Er...Bob...you really need to rescan your TV/converter. WROC lit up 8.2 on Monday. It's "Bounce TV," a national network aimed at the African-American community.

I have been watching Me-TV on WHEC (on cable). Overall, I like what I see. Good programing but my personal tastes are not hour dramas. So show like Rockford Files, Cannon, and Kojak, are lost on me. Besides they have been all over the cable dial. No novelty there for me. I don't need to see Miami Vice or the A Team in the future either. But I do admit if I didn't have cable or satellite it would be great. They do run shows like Dobie Gillis, The Untouchables, Wild, Wild, West, & Rawhide, but in off hours.
The color episodes of Gunsmoke & Bonanza have been run into the ground by TV Land.
WHEC is doing a great job with cross promotion of NEWS 10 NBC and ME-TV's promos for their shows are excellent, very clever.

So overall I like Me-TV. If I didn't have cable it would excellent!

Could be my set, but rescanning hasn't brought up Bounce on WROC's 8.2 subchannel even after a couple of tries. (It gets all four other full power stations' subchannels, MeTV and weather on 10. CW on 13, World and Create on 21, and TheCoolTV on 31, just fine.) I can look out my window and see the Pinnacle Hill TV transmitter farm less than a mile away, so it isn't a matter of distance from the source. Anyone else in Roc City having problems with it?

Odd. It works fine over here on the other side of the hill. What brand is the set? Some will allow you to do a direct entry of the RF channel, which is 45 for WROC. You could try that (or even "45-4," which is the underlying RF program # for Bounce) to see if it works. Another possibility, if your set allows for manual deletion of scanned channels, is to delete your existing 8 program and then rescan.

I know that Scott (Fybush) and Bob (Smith) will get a kick out of this but I just discovered MeTV on TW cable last week.

This network is a dream come true for me since it features programs that I grew up with. The Untouchables, Honey West (Anne Francis---- ;)..Kojak and 12 O'clock High, just to mention a few.
