MeTV on WCVB 5.2......... color bars and tone right now.

Late yesterday afternoon, they were //5.1 (5.1 decoded as “WCVB” and 5.2 as “WCVB 5”, IIRC). But by 8:00pm, they were back to color bars.

If it is feasible, why not run either live radar or traffic cam(s) until MeTV starts?

Official word is WMFP WILL NOT be moving RTV back to 62.1!

The question is who can they pick up that will allow them to pre-empt 1/3 of their line up for infomercials?

I read someplace the Tribune's contracts for Antenna TV don't allow for infomercial preemption.

Anyone bet they'll go all infomercials?

so wmfp lost me tv?? i'm glad i can now watch all the metv schedule. Right now i can get wjar but its spotty at times so this is great news for me.

I kind of figured they wouldn't move RTV back.

I'm willing to bet whatever network they make a deal with it will be similar to what they have with MeTV. I'm still hoping for antenna tv. There are lots of small and new networks that would love to cut a deal to get on a main ch. in one of the top 10 markets with the signal WMFP has. ;D

Any network would let NRJ dictate terms for a coveted must-carry affiliation.

I don't know if they'd go Spanish or not, but "Mundo-Fox" is on a low-power station right now, (Why didn't Fox just put it on WFXT/25.2 - they aren't using any sub-channels!) , There's also "Bounce".

Fox does not want subchannels on their O&Os, and the plan with Mundo Fox was to affiliate with existing Spanish channels. I had the same question and it was discussed in a thread on the National TV board: http://radiodiscussions.com/smf/index.php?topic=217619.0

This has shown up on the Wikipedia page for WMFP. No source credit, and so far the Wikipedia "police" have not flagged it as being uncredited.
WMFP has announced they will no longer carry MeTV, effective October 1, 2012. MeTV will move to WCVB on 5-2 effective that date

I called WMFP. RTV is staying on the .2. They are signing with another network, the person I spoke with couldn't tell me which network but to stay tuned on October 1st.

Starting last weekend, 5.2 now has a banner at the bottom that says "MeTV Boston coming to Ch 5.2 Oct 1st," with an SD version of 5.1. Now it's the color bars with the banner on it.

Around 10-10:30am this morning they had a big “MeTV Boston” TOH ID type logo in the middle of the screen (with the “coming Oct.1st” banner still at the bottom—?—and audio tone).
When I just checked now, they are back to just the ¾cb w/rolling open caption “WCVB-TV 5” and tone.

belive it or not according to my direct tv listings this gives less infomercials looks like it starts around 6am and goes until 11pm or so, Granted around 4 or 5 they repeat the same shows over again.

I think they lose a little infomercial time on the weekend, but I have a feeling they got a sweet deal to pick up the network.

Who knows, it might be a breakout hit. What do they really have to lose - they still have the bulk of the infomercial revenue.

I wish RTV would find another affilate in the market - Luken is buying up LP/LD stations, isn't WHDN-LD dark?

WHDN has been gone for at least a year - but last May they filed a "Notification of Suspension of Operations / Request for Silent STA"...

THE INSTANT SUBMISSION SERVES TO NOTIFY THE COMMISSION THAT THE STATION WILL DISCONTINUE OPERATIONS ON MAY 25, 2012 IN ORDER TO COMMENCE EQUIPMENT UPGRADES. THE APPLICANT EXPECTS THAT SUCH UPGRADES WILL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 90 DAYS. ACCORDINGLY, THE APPLICANT SEEKS COMMISSION CONSENT TO REMAIN SILENT DURING THIS PERIOD.

If they do come back, would they be Deutche Welle again?

It's been more than 90 days...

Well, as of about 8:50pm, WCVB:5.2 is running a network preview/promo show, complete with local commercial breaks.
I don’t know if this is just a one time show, a stunt/loop through the weekend, or if they are going to have different preview shows until official launch.

NRJ doesn't care about viewers at all - they just are filling the airwaves with anything they can get cheep and infomercials till the FCC Spectrum Auction.

I wonder, what's going to happen to the existing FCC licences for those channels - do they go back to the FCC and canceled, or get a new channel assignment to be kept by the broadcaster or sold off. to another broadcaster.
