MGM and MEtv

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118029694?refCatId=14

Packer said he aims to offer Me-TV first to incumbent This TV affiliates. MGM will shop Me-TV to station owners attending the NATPE confab in Miami later this month. "I feel like if our group is really going to be a leader in this space, I want to be out in the market with two premiere channels for movies and series," Packer said.

they seem to be the only Boston station (minus 2,44,62...don't consider 50 a "Boston" station ) that has sub channels. I think 4 can't have them, not sure about 5, 25. 7.3 would be "Breaking News."

Wow! Country music videos in Boston. THAT should be very popular. Where do these folks get their ideas? Should be as popular as Cool TV on 12-2. I thought Me TV would be a perfect fit for 7 or 56.

I still think both Me TV & Antenna TV will come to Boston or Providence. I see that Antenna is now in Hartford.

Odds you see it on 7.3 or 56.2 sometime.

Won't be 56.2. That will be "The Country Network."

It is true. 56.2 has already been activated with color bars with the legal ID "WLVI-TV 56.2 Cambridge" in a black box in the bottom half of the color bars. More than likely, 7.3 (WHDH-TV) will (probably) grab MeTV as a compliment to ThisTV (from Weigel Broadcasting of Chicago/MGM). I do wonder if the addition of a second sub on Channel 7 might affect WHDH's HD component on the main channel? I doubt that WBZ or WSBK will add a sub-channel for the foreseeable future due to CBS's mandate of no subs on the O&O's. So, any possibility of adding another "evergreen" channel (Antenna TV) would more than likely rest on Channels 5, 25 or 68. Channel 50? Possibly but it would have to be another digital tier signal as WZMY's over-the-air signal is negligible beyond 4 to 5 miles from their tower (though they do have good cable coverage). Channel 62. currently has RTV, but the station is in rather iffy straits at the present time due to Multicultural's current financial situation. I hope RTV stays. 62 does have 62.2 (in-the-clear) but it's basically an STL to downtown simulcasting RTV's direct feed. So, who knows!?
