Miami Move-In Filed @ FCC for 104.3

http://www.radio-info.com/news/miami-move-in-filed-at-the-fcc-for-just-sold-weat-1043

As the 104.3 frequency is moved in to Miramar as a Class C1, it sets off a chain reaction of moves involving several other South Florida stations. This is being done by CBS as an accommodation to buyer Dean Goodman's Palm Beach Broadcasting, which is expected to spin off the 104.3 frequency as a Miami station.

Alex Media holds a construction permit to build at Class C2 FM at 104.5 in Islamorada, and is applying to change frequency to 93.5.

Great Marathon Radio Company's WKEY, Key West would move from from 93.5 to 93.7.

Ocean Reef Public Radio agrees to find a new channel for its low power WORZ-LP-104.3, Key Largo. Palm Beach Broadcasting picks up the expense tab.

As previously announced, on 6/1/12 WEAT moves to 107.9 and WIRK moves to 103.1 with WPBZ disappearing.

So, as of 6/1/2012, what happens on 104.3? Does it become a stereo audio feed of WCBS-FM South Florida?! ;) Just asking! :)

^ That, + will the affected frequencies sign off for the evening of May 31, ihopeihopeihopeihope?

According to this stations website www.worzfm.com/ they have 4 million listeners a month at $25.00 a donation per subscriber per year. (unless I'm reading it wrong). Plus you can buy a seasonal spot schedule. Hmmm...

If it all works out. Palm Beach Broadcasting got the deal of the year on this one. Congrats.

CBS sold the cluster to Goodman, but Goodman can not own all the stations. This one could be operated by a trustee while the move and sale go through, or a temporary waiver granted to Goodman while he sells it.

Clear has 5 FMs in the Miami MSA and can not buy this one for Miami.

Considering that Cox took about a decade to make the old WTMI "work" I don't see them buying. And Lincoln was trying to sell until the recession made the prices unappealing. I really doubt they would get board approval to expand in radio.

yes please whomever buys it do NOT go spanish...enough already

would love to see cox take it over and put Party back on as it is now on 93.1 HD 2 channel it could take a bite out of y100 and power96 and get a jump on whatever Laz is going to do when he returns to miami radio.

anyone think Goodman will put the Now format on 104.3 for now or will he try to do something else that could just disappear soon enough?

why wouldnt goodman keep it himself for a miami market station?? (as was stated in another post)

I can't imagine anyone wanting to be in the Miami market with a single standalone FM.

Besides that, the proceeds from the sale are obviously part of Goodman's strategy for buying the CBS WPB stations.

From my persecutive, Goodman has a major task in integrating a new cluster and paying off debt. Adding construction costs and startup capital and burn capital to a new Miami station would likely be very risky, if even doable within the covenants of the loan they took on.

So will 104.3 be leaving the air from Lantana Rd on June 1'st forever?
Will they not return to the air until some of their equipment is relocated, or will they come on immediately with new equipment already installed behind closed doors and under the cover of darkness on or near County Line Rd?

Someone has to replace Classica 92.3 and/or 103½ ;D

A good question is what format will be on 104.3 till it sells? Geeze does the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market really need another FM? Talk about enough already!

I already asked this question earlier. What will be on the 104.3 frequency starting tomorrow 6-1-12? In reading the application, it appears CBS Radio will still control the 104.3 facility until a final disposition of the property happens. ;)

I'm betting a WEAT simulcast until they sell 104.3. Or just run a loop directing people to the new frequency until the facility change.

I doubt CBS or the new owners will actually be the ones paying for the move/upgrade. I think they just filed the paperwork, which increased the value of the frequency.

Sunny 107.9 just does not have a ring to it.

Guess the format on 104.3 at midnight

Let the format wheel spin!

Any guesses?

I think they will run a recorded loop for a day or more directing 104.3 listeners to 107.9. After that.... CHR until the new owners (whoever that will be) move the facility, tower and take over.
