I'm curious: are people here mainly interested in the
Miami Market, with the Palm Beach Market secondary?

How about Naples, Treasure Coast, etc.?

Personally I am more interested in the Miami and Palm Beach markets, mainly because I've been in the area quite a few times.

In general posters on the board are more interested in the Southeast coast of South Florida.

I still think this should be named back to the "South Florida" board.

Without Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Florida would be "Iowa". It is the largest market in the state.

I think that comment is a little weak. Miami is the 12th largest radio market but Tampa is 19th and Orlando is 37th so calling Florida w/o Miami Iowa forgets the major markets in the state. Tampa is actually a larger TV market so several cities in Florida make the state one of highest populated in America.

Furthermore Florida has 18 radio markets (out of nearly 300) - and 12 of them are in the TOP 100 in the nation (5 in the TOP 50).

The Miami-Fort Lauderdale Markets are my primary interest. Outside of that, Chicago, LA, Asheville, NC (Future residence) and NY are markets I look at. The 3 major markets are because I was born / raised in the Windy City, I have friends on air in LA & NY is my vacation loft.

The Buried Treasure Coast and other parts of the Plywood State don't warrant my interest enough to keep tabs.

Aside from Miami-Ft. Lauderdale I try to stay on top of what is going on in the radio business in the other urban areas of Florida such as West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville (basically within the TOP 50 radio markets nationwide). I also stay up-to-date with the goings-on all around the Capitol Beltway in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (my original hometown from 1969 to 1985). Finally as an avid fan of radio you simply can't ignore The Big Apple.
