Mic preamp help

Thanks! Not too bad for a $35 program, lol! I'm not into flash, etc. Just need something with demos. Even what I have I feel is too much. Really just need one page with demos and contact info.

I am putting together a home studio, and I am using the dbx 286A in concert with a Studio Projects C1. I don't have the budget for a Symetrix 528E or anything in the FocusRite catalogue, so I need to "run what I brung", so to speak. I realize settings differ from person to person, but I'm looking for some basic parameters to get started.

I am using this setup strictly for voiceovers... from hard-sell car ads to low-key PSA's.

Thanks for your help!

Hey Chuck...Start with everything flat...The closer you are to flat, the better. I wouldn't touch the hi/lo on the 286A at all. The C1 has a bright high-end and solid low-end. Use a little compression for control, but not much. Expand where you need to. If you have a sibilance problem, use the de-esser...If not, bypass it. Bypass as much as you can and use only what you need.
