Michael Baisden Ending His Show

you beat me to it...lol..I read the letter on FB and it appears that he was forced out by Cumulus..which is not surprising..Cumulus has an awful way they treat urban formatted radio stations and programs..i should know i used to work for them. If its not country ..they really dont care..they will put the urban station on the weakest signal in the cluster just to make a few bucks...but not to win unless its heritage. I wish MB the best..

HMMMMMMM, something isn't right! Screw Cumulus because they've made it known they want to focus on Country and Rock formats. So, when will Radio One (Syndication One) pick up Baisden?

Last time I checked, urban stations like KTCX, WEMX, KXQL, KIPR (urban flagship), WEAS and WWWZ are on 50kw and higher. But while those like WQQK, KWIN/KWNN or WLXC do well despite having 6kw sticks or less, stations like WHRP Huntsville and KSSM Killeen (no longer under Cumulus) barely have a C grade signal over the core city.

You forgot Cumulus bought former Citadel stations like WEMX and WWWZ. I'd say they were better off under Citadel.

Baisden's show was actually a good spirit show when it came down to issues in the African American community. I know for a fact he'll be back on the radio!

The unconfirmed word (that's yet to have been published anywhere) is that Cumulus wanted Baisden to stay, but told him he'd have to agree to less money as Cumulus continues its expense-cutting everywhere it can. They were at an impasse when Baisden decided to either actually leave or attempt a push to get a better offer by the original post that he was "leaving radio." Promoting they'd be saying goodbye at 3pm ET, and until 3/29, drew the response from Cumulus to block that from happening with the "lock out."

The weird thing, though, is that there's a "slim chance" there may still be an agreement, and Baisden will return via Cumulus Media Networks, although that may be less likely now. (But not impossible!) Cumulus still hasn't said anything on the record except that they won't publicly discuss the situation during "ongoing negotiations."

Seems that way, cumulus fired john long from Hot 1077 Birmingham and brought in ken johnson as OM manger for HOT 1077 and 995 the Vibe a few months ago. They fire people for doing well at their urban stations.I now they fired james alexander from cumulus Mobile a while back too. They don't get rid of people like Rush limbaugh and glenn beck who should never be on the radio. I enjoyed the Michael Baisden show and wish him well.

when i was with Cumulus we pulled better numbers on our urban stations than any other station in the building, yet we had the weakest signal..we had to beg for new things..our vehicle broke down enough on us..yea i spent many weekends sitting side the road waiting on Long John..yes he was my boss at one point..to come pick me up and have the van towed to the shop. All the other stations had brand new vehicles and got whatever they want with little push back. Also not to mention that our studios was located in the rear of the building..So Cumulus does have an issue in the urban department. And bringbackradio..all those stations you listed only one is originally owned by cumulus..some were citadel stations and one i saw a couple that they got in a swap with Clear Channel.

Don't forget talk radio, too... Ya know, there's a part of me that hopes Michael Savage's current contract with Cumulus kinda ends in the same vein as their deal with Baisden... THAT would be audio gold right there...

I know some some stations my pick up doug banks in the afternoon, some my go jockless, because banks is on another station.I know of a few stations that will go jockless, there is a station in columbus ga that has banks and the other has baisden,in chi-town banks is on v-103 and basiden is on soul 1063 and in birmingham banks is on 900 gold watv and basiden is on HOT 1077.I know there may be other markets where banks and baisden are on,but those are the one's I know for sure

in Albany, GA Banks is on 98.1 Kiss FM and Baisden is on V101.7..but i imagine that since V runs The Touch they will just replace it with their afternoon show

Doug Banks doesn't have no where near the affiliates Baisden had. Most of the cheap ran Urban markets will go with whatever Cumulus offer and I sure hope it's not Frank Ski1

I hope cumulus does not make their stations take the frank ski show, because it would be a slap in the face to those listeners,me included because we have an cumulus station that have baisden, most of the stations in alabama that carries baisden are owned by cumulus

Both CC R&B outlets in Detroit and Philadelphia have Frankie Darcell in the same slot where Baisden used to run, although WMXD sent him to R1's WDMK in late 2009 and WDAS dropped him back in January.

Cumulus is cheap, but they have been working on backup plans for this for over a year. They will have a show to offer immediately if no deal is reached.

Who owns KSSM in Killeen? The signal is descent and they are the most listened too station in Central Texas (big African American population due to Fort Hood).
