With new station adds KYIZ Seattle, KCEP Las Vegas and KJMC Des Moine Iowa, The Michael Baisden Show is now on 75 Stations.

I'm a Doug Banks fan.
He was one of the reasons why I got into radio.
I saw how he went from local to national afternoons to national mornings.
Overall solid structure, stick with one or 2 topics within the show and take calls. Spin good music and have a good time.

Same time, I didn't like Michael's show when it was Love Lust and Lies. Of course every radio show needs a gimmick, and I felt at the time in 2005 I wasn't interested in the show. Not the music, not the show period.

It wasn't until I was driving through Cleveland and flipped on 93.1 like a radio geek to see what the market is doing and heard him talking about Jena-6. Since then I've been into the show simply because how it skewed from just being a gimmick to actually trying to make a difference, which is my vision why I got into radio in the first place... to make a difference.

Some things I still cant stand about how he presents the show. It's all over the place. Daily there are about 3 or 4 show topics. And folks I'm sure are calling about one topic, on hold for a half hour, then he answers the call and asks the caller about something that just popped into his head, and they say something and drops the call... which is not the what the caller wanted to comment on.

I know if he's talking about the oil spill, and I wanted to comment on it, then he answers my call and asks me about are you a Celtics or Lakers fan and I say (name) and he continues with that and hangs up, I'd feel kinda sidelined as a listener, as a fan.

The show needs to stay on track.
Other than that, the music is exactly the same songs every day. I could nearly count the daily rotation on both hands. Pay to play? Im not saying nothing.

Overall he's doing a good job but he's not RADIO PERSON. Once again, non-radio people getting jobs because of a "break." He's an author. Which is why the show doesn't have strong structure and hard to listen to sometimes.

Michael Baisden show is and excellent product for Urban AC stations. I like to listen to him and George because it just reminds me of Urban community radio for African Americans. He stays on top of issues impacting Afican Americans.

yes but it needs a solid structure is what im sayin.
its all over the place he switches up ideas, discussions n topics in the middle of the show alot of times, and thats a lil irritating. especially if your calling in to talk about what's sposed to be the "topic of the day" and he switches it when something pops into his head and takes calls on the "new idea" when folks on hold for a half hour want to talk about the main thing.

I do like his "Pimpin' in the Pulpit" discussions. He's right on point with those.

It would be cool if his afternoon show moved into a morning show. Even though there isn't room, I think he'd do an excellent job.
