Michael Bolton on mainstream AC anymore?

Just yesterday I posted a topic about Michael Bolton on the Soft AC/Standards board thinking that folks there might have some things to say about Michael Bolton's music being played on Standards or Soft AC stations. Apparently, Mr. Bolton doesn't get much airplay there. I have to assume that he gets even LESS airplay on Mainstream AC stations these days.

Besides occasionally hearing "When A Man Loves A Woman" and maybe "Said I Loved You ... But I Lied", are any mainstream AC stations playing any of Michael Bolton's music anymore? Given the current state of AC radio, I would have to assume no.

Any thoughts or observations?

I haven't heard Michael Bolton on AC radio in quite a while.

Up until several years ago, WSPA-FM played a lot of ballads from the 90s and still played "Georgia's On My Mind", "When A Man Loves A Woman", and "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You" - however, most of the ballads have been purged for Katy Perry, Whitesnake, Gaga, Bon Jovi, Haddaway, etc.

KMGL played "When A Man Loves A Woman" by Michael Bolton occasionally last year and earlier this year. They dropped this song after their playlist update back in May this year.

WMGF, WLYF, WLMG, KSNE, and KOST still play "When A Man Loves A Woman" occasionally.

"When A Man Loves a Woman" gets Dial Global airplay. It might have ended up on other soft rock stations, but that's the only one I know.

Please tell me you're talking about Percy Sledge.

Vchimp, he's referring to Dial Global's AC format, not America's Best Music. And the AC network wouldn't play the Percy Sledge version, or any '60s.

"When a Man Loves a Woman" was on WMGC Detroit's playlist before they went younger a few months ago. I don't miss hearing it.

Those stations that Andrew mentioned all lean older and softer. I really like WMGF, by the way; that's the way I wish 105.1 in Detroit sounded. I checked Mediabase lists for each of them and "When a Man Loves a Woman" was the only song of his listed.

Not true. It still plays "Brown Eyed Girl" Van Morrison, from late '60s.

Sorry about that. I'm in the habit of seeing "Dial Global" and thinking of America's Best Music.

Sorry crainbebo, I stand corrected. I was under the impression that they've modernized more than I thought they had, since it wasn't so long ago that they changed the all-'70s Saturday night show to a '70s and '80s show. I hadn't heard that song on the DG AC station I listen to while on vacation in northern Michigan.

Out of curiosity, do they still play Bette Midler and Celine Dion?

If AC doesn't, I know Dial Global standards does. ::)

Bette Midler does some good stuff from the big band era, though. For a long time I wasn't aware that she did this long before Linda Ronstadt.
