Michael Buble's "Just Haven't Met You Yet" - what happened to it?

Seriously? Do you have an example of a Hot AC or CHR station that's playing this now? Michael Buble on CHR? That sounds strange.
Mix 92.9 (AC) and 107.5 the River (CHR) have played it here in Nashville.

But I am really surprised that no one has said what I have thought about the song: that it sounds a lot like Sara Bareilles' "Love Song." At least the backing track sounds like it was discarded from "Love Song."

Now that you mention it, you are right. They sound very similar.

That's really funny...they DO sound a lot alike. They have no association (don't have the same producer/composer), so I wonder if it's a coincidence or a rip-off.
IMO, "Love Song" is much better, but HMYY is a good song as well. "Love Song" did much better for the AC format.

Mariah Carey has had a phenomenal run, mostly #1 songs, to the point that she released an album entitled "#1", consisting of nothing but just that! She was the single biggest artist of the '90s, starting in CHR and later moving to AC and other formats.

I typically don't like a lot of 90s music, especially that which was played on AC's, but I love Mariah's early hits like "Dream Lover" and "Emotions" over her more recent ones, such as "Touch My Body" and "Obsessed." I don't consider her recent songs AC (maybe "We Belong Together", but it has had no staying power).

All the AC stations within my listening range are still playing it (NYC, central NJ, Allentown PA).

And as for Standards playing it, why not? He's an established Standards artist, and old people like to get up and dance a little too. :) I'd much rather hear it than hear Rod Stewart's miserable attempts at crooner ballads, anyway.

I think the biggest crossover in recent history, though, was Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why". At one point I was hearing it contemporaneously on Standards, Smooth Jazz, Soft AC, mainstream AC, Hot AC, Adult CHR, mainstream CHR, and even Urban CHR. And it's still a mainstay of AC playlists today!

Now if he made country /classic rock stations in addition, that would be something of a record!

I've been a huge fan of Mariah Carey's since she first debuted in 1990. I always had the impression she spent the early '90s in the AC format (I didn't realize how much of a CHR presence she had) and then moved to more of a rhythmic CHR format in the late '90s. Then in the '00s she really moved into the R&B/Urban arena.

I disagree, though, about "We Belong Together". I believe that was her only AC song from the '00s, and it has had some staying power in the years since it came out in 2005. Unfortunately, though, I haven't heard it much in the past, say, 6 months or so.

I have now started hearing it a lot on the Hot AC stations in Grand Rapids - several weeks after I initially posted this message.

I just can't see Michael Buble on AC.

What makes you say you can't see Michael Buble on AC? He has had several AC hits since the mid '00s. They have been a bit on the softer side, but AC nonetheless.

Michael Buble's song and the Lady Antebellum song are the two biggest surprises to cross to CHR this year. But they are both really great songs.
I wouldn't really call them a surprise, since both are catchy pop-rock-based tunes (the "country" version of "Need You Now" just adds in a steel guitar). Hearing James Blunt and Norah Jones on CHR was much more of a surprise to me.
"Don't Know Why" but I heard Norah Jones on a satellite hot AC which most sources describe as CHR for some reason.

And the same CHR played "Girls, Girls, Girls" when they play 80s music on Saturday nights. Still on the satellite format, I think, and not a special program.

Returning to the original topic, I heard the song as I walked in a restaurant with my aunt just as it was opening. This song gets on my nerves, but it was certainly better than some of what followed. I was fortunate that I heard a station identification--"The Blend" before too many people showed up. However, the music was just loud enough even with the place full of people to be annoying. Particularly when Taylor Swift was on. And some garbage with a dance beat came on early. I tried to get away from the speaker, even though the waitress tried to put us near a speaker, but every seat is apparently close enough for the music to be an intrusion. I knew that things weren't as bad with the place full of people or I would have said something. I want quiet when I eat.
