MICHAEL DOYLE NAMED ENTERCOM REGIONAL VP

Inside Radio said:
Michael Doyle named Entercom RVP.The Rochester market manager is promoted to regional VP for eight Entercom clusters including Buffalo, Gainesville, Greensboro, Greenville-Spartanburg, Memphis, Rochester, Wichita and Wilkes Barre-Scranton. Current RVP Steve Godofsky recently announced his impending retirement and he'll transition to a new role within the company.
SFX up, Greg Greed, grinding his teeth.

B Roll: Larry Robb, finger in the air, checking wind direction. Congratulations, Mike.

You'd expect the market manager for Rochester to come from the Rochester Entercom ranks, wouldn't you? The name Mike Rockwell, National Sales Manager, is likely to be on the short list. He won a national award as NSM of the year recently.

And yes, I'm sure that Greg Greed is disappointed - along with all the Buffalo managers who'd like to get rid of him.

No surprise here, Mike compiled a strong track record beating back strong challenges from CBS and Clear Channel, not to mention gobbling up some of CBS' prime properties, and you have to believe the corporate brass in Philly noticed.

It's also a reflection of the fact that upcoming census figures in a few years will show the 6-county Rochester area will likely be the biggest market among the clusters he'll be supervising.

As to who succeeds him as Rochester cluster manager...that'll probably be up to him. Or if Entercom wants to save $$$, maybe they'll ask Doyle to keep that role and just add overall regional supervisory responsibility to his plate. Who knows?
