"Both Scott’s Shots and bostonsportsmedia.com founder, Bruce Allen, have been told, independently, by a number of industry insiders, that Boston Herald multi-media superstar, Michael Felger, will be given the keys to the all-important afternoon drive show at the new ESPN Radio Boston, 890 AM and 1400 AM.

Station general Manager, Jessamy Tang indicated this past Thursday to Scott’s Shots, that any official announcements will be made this upcoming week, when some of the network’s national radio programming originates from ESPN Boston's new Charlestown studios. Felger could not be reached for comment."

I def think Felger can steal some numbers from the Big Show. Felger gets blasted often for his over the top opinions, but many times he speaks the truth. He doesn't get on his hands and knees for the Boston Sports teams, and he doesn't sit on the fence like Mr.Ordway.

Interesting nonbroadcaster choice, which is what ESPN/1050 also did for awhile I guess, but with a much better signal. I think the Big Show will survive. The Score and the Zone haven't made any dents in the Ordway wagon.
Somebody needs to get the Red Sox in order to make a real impression and that probably won't happen.

I don't think ESPN is going to shell out to much coin.
Neumy rejected a hell of alot of money at WEEI.

Don't kid yourselves, ESPN has its fingerprints all over this.

As a result, the Bristol boys will assist the "station owner" by financing the hell out of promotion. All 1510 ever really did was get some billboards.

And yes, 890/1400 will bid for the Sox and I wouldn't be surprised to see 'em turn over the keys on all summer nights, just like 1050 did for the Knicks and Rangers.

If they were ever able to pull that off, they would need an extensive network of stations to fill in the gaps. Down here in the Brockton area, the night signal is just about nothing, with WCBS 880 strong right next to it, and WLS right on top of them at times.

I hope WEEI is able to keep them!

IIRC, WBET and/or WMSX were on the Sox network in very recent years, as were stations such as WKOX and the 1470 incarnation of WSRO.

If it's what ESPN wants, the money will be spent.

Felgie confirmed it on the Sports Final with Lobie last night. He's going to
be hosting a 4-8pm show at 890/1400.

FELGIE IS GONE YAHOOOOOOOOO!! I can finally start listening to The Big Show and WEEI regularly again! I was so turned off by Felger especally when he first started. Too many fill in co-hosts slapped his reporting around and literally laughed at him on air about how he had his facts screwed up. I remember one fill in that they only had in a couple times in or around January '02 that outwardly laughed in Felger's face on air and called him out on his facts. Albeit it was fairly unprofessional the way it was done, and EEI didn't have him bak ater his second tirade on Felger, BUT when he questioned Felger's facts, quite a few times Felger was left speechless. I won't miss him.
