michael holley *needs* dale arnold.

I'll be honest, I think he does a great job. Don't get me wrong, I love Dale...but I think Holley does Holley well. When Dale leaves, he is still Holley...

As for Romper Room...seriously? We still using that term? ;)

Dale is ok, but I think Holley does fine when Dale is off. He (Holley) brings the goofiness/silliness at times, and that's fun to listen to....at least I think so anyway

A bit off topic, but how much vacation time do these guys get anyway? Not knocking them...just curious. Could care less about D&C being there or not, but I do miss when the other regulars aren't on. JMHO.

He was great for a few years. I didn't like all of the Ohio State schtick and the man-love for Ellis Hobbs was a little uncomfortable, but for the most part I really enjoyed him. Lately he seems to be trying to prove that he's cooler than everybody. A few sound effects are fine, but he's gone too far with all of the songs and jive talk. At times he reminds me of a carnival barker. This lightning round thing is just plain stupid.

Unfortunately today we're relegated to a drunken Lobel and Canseco's friend.

This is a Post Imus world sir... I think Jive Talk might upset certain Kings of Rap on this board.

I'm probably behind the times. When you call a fellow human being "dog" what type of talk is that?

Along with "Planet Mikey", Dale and Holley constitute appointment radio on WEEI..the "Big Show" I can do without for the most part..

If D and C didn't have Manny's hair to complain about every morning this week, would might they have fallen back on?

the lightning round has to go. it's horrible.

The way they submarined Dale while he was on vacation was weird. At first I thought the whole thing was a joke, but it looks as if it's for real. It was kind of classless to humiliate Dale that way.

And I agree with you, it's really stupid. I can't believe it's helping the ratings.

I'm sure it's part of the act... WEEI creates fake controversies and angles, like in pro wrestling.

You're probably right. On yesterday's Big Show, it sounded like they were trying to do something similar with Smerlas and the "Real Postgame Show" this year. Also, on the same show Larry Johnson was totally humiliated by a caller. It was great. The caller nailed him on two incorrect remarks and told him that he needed to do his homework and asked if he realized he was on a major station. The Putrid Preacher had no comeback.

by the way, someone needs to inform dale that the past tense of 'fly out' is 'flied out'...NOT 'flew out'.

it makes me want to pull my hair out when dale says that the batter 'flew out' on a previous at bat.

Wow you guys really hate Larry Johnson. What did he do to you?

I don't hate the guy personally... I just think, given the number of talented/knowledgable people who could easily fill his slot on the Big Show, it makes no sense for him to be there--he has minimal sports knowledge and brings nothing to the table. I mean, Felger is an unctuous contrarian (probably an act, to a certain extent, to get a rise out of people) but I'd rather have him on there than LJ... Bring in a Ryen Rusillo, who knows his stuff and also has a good voice.

heaven help us if these two ever got on the subject of the acronym, 'RBI,' and its proper translation.

It's not so much hatred as it is disgust and contempt. LJ has no sports knowledge, a bad voice, a crappy Boston accent, and will ruin the Big Show with four hours of attempts at punch lines that are either ignored or met with embarrassing silence. For some reason this guy has a regular gig on Saturdays and appears on the Big Show almost weekly. There are a lot of people on this board who have excellent credentials and never got a sniff of that much air time on a major station. Why him?
