No confirmation on anything from a real news source (i.e. not E! or Drudge, both of whom say he's dead) but his having had cardiac arrest and being rushed to the hospital. It doesn't look good, however. Hopefully those reports are wrong.

Now the LA Times and MSNBC are reporting that he has assumed room temperature.
 
My favorite Michael Jackson song of the Jackson 5 was Boogie Fever that song was a big hit back in the 70's. RIP Michael Jackson you want be forgotton :(

• ABC News will present a special "20/20" tonight at 9pmET/PT. "The Life and Death of Michael Jackson" will be anchored by Barbara Walters and Martin Bashir. Walters will then anchor the 10pm special on the life of Farrah Fawcett.

• NBC has announced it is producing a 2-hour "Dateline" to "mark today's tragic deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson." NBC News' Ann Curry and Meredith Vieira will anchor the tribute beginning at 9pmET/PT.

• CBS News is preparing a Jackson special called "The Life and Death of Michael Jackson" to air at 10pmET/PT.
 
Love him or hate him, there is no denying he was a an outstanding performer. He defined the latter part of the 70's and definitely all through the 80's with big hits like Thriller, Billy Jean, & Beat It.Just to name a few! We will never see the likes of him again. He was a powerhouse in the Music industry that "No One", In my opinion, will be able to replace, ever. As for me I am deeply saddened , And I will miss you! RIP my friend!
 
This is the oldest I've ever felt in my short adult life. That's just how powerful a figure Michael Jackson was to my childhood.

We've just lost the greatest music entertainer of all time.
 
Nancy Grace just said that he died from a cardiac arrest by drugs and anorexia. Is this true?

It looks like the Los Angeles stations are
giving Michael Jackson's death more coverage
than they are Farrah's. I get DirecTV, and when
I got home a little after 7 PM (ET), I noticed that
KCBS had pre-empted Dr. Phil, KNBC had pre-empted
Ellen, and KABC was into its 4 PM (PT) news; all were
reporting from Westwood, CA.

It seems that show-business deaths come in threes,
and this week alone we've had Ed McMahon, Michael
Jackson, and Farrah Fawcett.

OTOH, I saw more about Farrah on "Extra" and "ET."
They focused a lot on her relationship with Ryan O'Neal.
 
No matter what dance club I ever been at, any time Billy Jean came on, everybody got right on the floor. I did too, but I have no rhythm, ::) But hey I tried. That beat makes you wanna get up and dance. I worked as a dj in ,well an all girl bar, and I knew how to get them out on the floor either Michael or Madonna.It never failed. ;)

I hate to burst your bubble, but "Boogie Fever" was by The Sylvers.

Anyway, All wackiness aside, MJ was one of the most important entertainers of the 20th century. His legacy can't be touched. Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, His Motown 25 moonwalk, Off The Wall, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, not to mention his Jackson 5 recordings...he will be sorely missed. :'(

I don't know man, "sorely?"
Those things happened long ago. They've lived on up to now because of tape and such, so they'll live on forever. We'll miss him at whatever level we missed him the past 20 years since he's had a hit.

I'm sure Farrah got more coverage on ET and the taped shows because they had time to compile tributes and commemorations. Michael Jackson was more of a "surprise." ET and the taped news shows will be all about Michael when they catch up.

I think that I'm about your same age and would agree. I was actually just thinking of John Lennon's death when I was in college. Everyone started playing his songs. Certainly a sad and memorable day!

I guess I tend to remember Michael's music from the 70's and 80's before all of the personal issues of the 90's.
