Michael Kay Vs. Mike Francesa

It's all great for ratings. The fans love a little drama. With a bunch of teams in trouble, this is where they direct passion.

so they are all like jimmy fallon at the end of a broadcast day, slapping each o ther on the b ack, saying job well done and sharing drinks? ;o)

In some cases. More likely they just forget all of this stuff the listeners take so seriously the second their shift is over.

I used to fall for these wars when I was a teen with Opie and Anthony.

Opie and Howard really do dislike each other, and Howie really has gone to management to get gag orders before. That's one of the few instances of a real radio war. Ant never was as much a part of that, and has been friendly with Howie in social settings a few times.

This is where management of both shows needs to step in and call a big boy time out.
No one outside the media cares about any of this.

I don't know about that. Talk show hosts have fan bases just like anyone else. If you listen a lot, you're a fan of one or the other. Passionate fans are foundation of radio listening.

The actual truth is no one INSIDE the media cares about this because we've seen it all before. This is about the fans who have nothing to talk about in sports because all the NYC teams are sucking. If the Giants were playing better, or if there was some controversy with the Rangers, this wouldn't matter. But they have lots of airtime to fill, and nothing else to say.

Ok, I'll give you that. I do think you make good points there.

Yes, passionate fans do make up the foundation, but I still think it goes back to this. As a typical listener, do I care about office politics? Do I care that Michael and Mike are fighting? Nope.

I wonder how the execs at the Yes Network feel about this. Francesa helped build the network in the early days. Until the contract dispute and picking Kay's show, the Yes golden boy. Francesa is getting to old for radio, he is out of touch with the younger listeners. Kay I don't know how he even got a job in radio. He really should have stayed a sports writer. His play by play for the Yankees is dreadful.

O and A have had other wars, but I meant that they talked about the radio war for ratings.
