Michael Kay Vs. Phil Mushnick

On Friday, sports media columnist Phil Mushnick "scolded" 1050 ESPN afternoon host Michael Kay in his New York Post column:

That afternoon, Kay laid into Mushnick on his radio show. Excerpt:

"Don’t scold me. I’m not your son. How dare you scold me? You ever scolded me to my face I’d punch you in the face."

Has anybody noticed how nice it is to watch the Yankees on YES these days since Michael Kay is not there. Bob Lorenz and John Flaherty sound so good together. I don't know what YES sees in Michael Kay. He just gives the network a bad name. Lorenz and Flaherty actually sound like true blue Yankee announcers, not someone trying to be bigger than the game and make himself famous. Geez, maybe Canada has an immigration law not allowing annoying, stupid egotists into the country.

Michael Kay was scheduled to make a cameo appearance on Jody McDonald's Saturday 6/5/10 afternoon show from Belmont Park. Don't know if Kay took the weekend off from YES/Yanks just to go to the races or if it was by mere coincidence.

Thanks for that. The original link worked fine when I first posted it, and still does - then again, I'm on a computer powered by Optimum, so I suppose it read my IP address. ;D

And as sorta transcribed on Neil Best's twitter, Kay instantly fires back:

http://twitter.com/sportswatch

Kay on alleged ripoff of Mushnick: "Really, Phil, that was theft? Boy, if that's theft that should be the worst thing I ever do in my life."

Kay played tape of himself talking about Winfield May 28 that Mushnick thought was too similar to Phil's thoughts on Winfield May 23.

Kay on Mushnick after playing tape: "That's theft? That's me lifting that? I almost feel embarassed that I got that upset."

One more from Kay: "Was that theft? That was your proprietary idea? It wasn't like you came up with e=mc2."

I know it's very easy for people to side with Mushnick just because more people know who Kay is, but as someone who has read enough of Mushnick's stuff I'll just say he isn't so innocent himself.

Mushnick that racist clown wishes he was on the radio. He has no talent. Anyone can criticize whats on tv and the radio.

Hmmmm, I had no idea Mushnick joined the ICP... ::)

In all seriousness, though, do you have an example of his supposed racism?

Actually, he co-hosted a radio show early in WFAN's existance. This whole time I think the fact it didn't turn out well makes him extremely bitter, as he is towards his usual targets (late starting times, PSL's, Vince McMahon, Tiger Woods, among numerous others).

As for his perceived racism, here's some examples:
