Michael O'Shea
A 30 + year radio veteran, Michael O’Shea may be best remembered to Texans from his days in Dallas-Fort Worth in the mid to late '60's on fellow Texas Radio Hall of Famer Gordon McLendon’s legendary KLIF 1190.
A thumbnail sketch of the cities and stations he's left his mark on include, from 1975 - 1981, the Program Directorship of KZLA and KMPC in Los Angeles, KVI in Seattle; WLW, Cincinnati and KLIF 1190 Dallas-Fort Worth.
From 1978 - 1981 he was VP of Programming at Golden West Broadcasters, Los Angeles, surpervising the legendary Gene Autry-owned stations: KMPC, Los Angeles; KSFO, San Francisco; KVI/KPLZ-FM, Seattle, KEX/KQFM, Portland, and WCXI/WTWR-FM, Detroit.
Later he was the General Manager of KUBE-FM, Seattle, with oversight of WUSN-FM, Chicago; KSLX-FM, Phoenix and KFMY, Salt Lake. He was a founding partner of New Century Media which acquired KUBE-FM, KJR-AM and FM, Seattle.
From 1998 until 2003 Michael O'Shea was President/Founder, New Northwest Broadcasters, Seattle, which acquired and consolidated 43 AM and FM radio stations in small and medium sized markets in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Alaska.
In 2003 he became the President and Founder in Hollywood of All Comedy Networks and the Creator and programmer of world’s first national all-comedy radio format and network, now on-air in over 20 major radio markets.
Two years ago, Michael became the Market Manager for Cumulus Media's six Cumulus stations in Oregon. Today, he's the President/General Manager, Cascade Radio Group in Bellingham, Washington and Market Manager for Saga Communication’s five stations in Bellingham: KGMI-AM; KAFE-FM; KISM-FM; KPUG & KBAI.
He is a recognized industry leader, has been named Billboard Magazine Program Director of the Year two times and is an instatee of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame's "Hall of Honor."

Yep, all good stuff. He's going back to Florida to visit later this year and meet up with his old classmate Jack Evans. They both got interested in radio about the same time. Jack works at WQYK-FM in Tampa. Goes under the name of "J.R."

O'Shea is one of the great radio pros, both from the programming and sales side. Many forget he hired Gary Bryan, (now with KRTH Los Angeles), in the 80's, and other great talents, too numerous to mention here. He had a knack for knowing what works and what doesn't on radio. Glad he is gliding toward retirement in a very nice area, Bellingham. Enjoy whatever you can about the NW, Michael, 'cause the secret is out and it won't ever be the same.
