willcail, there's room for everybody...FTL, Ed Schultz, Amy Goodman, Air America, all of 'em.
Ian's operation is a small, self-run syndication effort that right now, is on more secular mainstream talk stations than the subject of this thread, Michael Reagan - now doing an hour on an in-house network of mainly translators run by a religious-based radio operator.
Ian has much more of a chance of being heard by me than Mr. Reagan does. We have not a single AFR station anywhere near here. I think you have a couple or three small AFR outlets down your way...we have none in this part of the state, so Reagan's new show will only reach my radio if AFR puts in a translator around here.
I dipped into Ian's show via his webstream the other day, and my only complaint is echoed here in his message:
Nah, we usually open the phones to anyone, and approach issues from a pro-liberty perspective.
I know what he's saying, and where he's coming from, but the "pro-liberty" catchphrase makes him sound like one of those fringe shortwave radio shows that buy time on WWCR. IMHO, he needs to come up with better wording that doesn't make the show sound like something connected with the fringe extremists.
There's a reason shows using that phrase are not widely syndicated...they sound like they've stacked up their gold and their guns and are heading for the woods of Montana. Maybe Ted K's old land is still available. (And no, I'm not saying Ian or his show is like this...but the catchphrase will turn people off from listening, assuming he hopes to continue to grow the show commercially.)
