Michael Savage and Mike Malloy

Local talk radio hosts are a big topic on this board, although a topic I like to avoid. However, we rarely discuss national hosts. And with WPRO moving Michael Savage to the 10 PM slot, that pits Savage against Mike Malloy on WHJJ.

This is an interesting contrast. On the surface, the two are polar opposites. Savage is an extreme conservative and Malloy is an extreme liberal. However, there are striking similarities:
1. Both operate from the big city that is most opposite their viewpoints. Savage operates from arguably the most liberal big city in America, San Francisco. Malloy is based out of arguably the most conservative big city in America, Atlanta.
2. Both are extremists.
3. Both often engage in hate speech, yet are highly entertaining.

I find that while both men are actors, Malloy is probably more sincere in what he says. Anyone have any thoughts about Savage and Malloy, or any other national hosts of interest?

Interesting post,The difference between the two. Savage`s IQ is about 50 points higher than Malloys.
60 years ago Savage would have been MainStream.
As time goes on ,Malloy will probably be thought of as more Main Stream, because
America is heading toward Socialism and Atheism. It`s only a matter of time.
When that finally happens, kiss America goodBye...

<<>> I disagree, Savage 60 yrs ago, would have been a Moderate Liberal.
40 yrs ago ,he would have been Mainstream.
60 years ago Mike Malloy would have been charged with Treason.
40 yrs ago ,he`d have been on Phil Donuhue with a dress on.
Alan.

Scott, you tried to start an intelligent thread.....sorry it didnt work based on the stupid comments from radioaddict and alancohen..both know nothing and prove it regularly....

Let me nip your attempt in the bud...Jim Bohannon is now on WHJJ at 10pm and there wont be a chance to match the two up....

I think your topic would have been interesting
sorry

You ok today Doc? Oh ,you like Malloy? Hes the guy that the Secret Service paid a vist to for threating the Presidents life. Is that the Stupidity you speak of.
Nice try Doc.
Nice try..

I wish i could honestly tell you....im usually on KGO at that time or listening to podcasts......various AAR shows are played at night but there seems to be no pattern that I know of....

> Getting back to the original question I don't think Mike has been on since the AA gang was replaced, with the exception of an early morn Sat show. I'm not sure it's still on HJJ? Once a great host on WLS,he's slipped a bit.

Savage is interesting in that he's a performance-artist. He's playing the role of Conservative -but no party hack- very well and it is a differenciation from most Neocon talk hosts, which is good. Most of what he says has a kind of NY ethnic nastiness to it but if you can get by that it can be an entertaining show. His worst blunder of '05 was coming out for the potential innocence of Scott Peterson, whose guilt was a no-brainer. Sometime the contrarian act is stupid, even if you have a Ph.D. If your interested in info not showbiz at 10pm,I'd rec. Neocon John Batchelor/WABC,no longer on RKO.
