Michael Savage is dropped by KLIF 570

Beginning Monday, April 4th, KLIF 570 has dropped Michael Savage from their line up.

Where Michael Savage will yet end up in the Dallas market is unknown at this time.

KLIF is moving toward an all live broadcast format, and there was not a time slot available for Michael Savage, which is broadcast live from California, 5pm-8pm Dallas time. Michael Savage used to be broadcast tape-delayed on KLIF from 7pm-10pm.

After finally dropping below the 1.0 line, is KLIF actually going to spend money and replace Glenn Beck & Dave Ramsey too?

"all live & local" worked pretty good for them in the 90s before they cut their budget by whacking all their local hosts one-by-one.

So is it back to KSKY for Savage ??

Dropping Savage is never a smart move towards improving ratings.

Savage is not a spoiler, he is entertaining , provocative etc.

Will watch KLIF's ratings carefully.

Ramsey, Savage, and C2C was all I listened too on klif. They just cut down my tsl. Hopefully, Savage will go back to KSKY.

Savage was just about the only
thing I would ever listen to on 570,
along with Coast To Coast.

WHAT??? You mean that Saturday show Credit Talk USA with that guy who screams the whole show doesn't pique your interest?

Or what about grandpa sleepy time just after Credit talk? Attention Deficit Hour.

I tell you what, you want to hear the most interesting 5 minutes of radio in the WORLD, tune into KLIF Saturday about 5:58pm and listen through 6:03pm. Goes from Screaming pay to play credit talk to REALLY old and sleepy quiet A.D.D talk.

LOL...The ADD hour is a trip! The guy does the show himself, but at times he goes silent for minutes on end.

Sounds fun!
I'd enjoy Grandpa Sleepy Time :D ;D

For me it's mainly Coast to Coast through the week. But seriously, guys, what about the long-running Ed Wallace Show Saturdays? It more than talk about cars!

Ed Wallace is great. Nice mix of cars, American history, Rock N Roll trivia & current events. I like this formula better than same subject for 4 hours straight. And his insight on oil markets is spot on.

Now he's about the only thing I'd listen to on KLIF besides Dave Ramsey. I used to listen to Coast To Coast AM to fight insomnia. But instead of putting me to sleep, I'd be too busy laughing at some ridiculous "expert" on the air.

How bad or good is the KSKY signal vs. KLIF signal ? I'm sure WBAP rules

Of course WBAP rules, but KSKY is superior to KLIF in the daytime. At night, not so much, since it's directional with just 700 watts. In some areas, however, it's surprisingly good but it does suffer considerable interference from a co-channel station in Mexico City. That's the reason they applied for and got authorization for those three "emergency repeaters" on FM throughout the area, one of them in Dallas with 800 watts ERP.

I'm seeing this as a move to make KLIF all local hosts, with WBAP all national hosts, as a way to position them separately after the merger is complete. Look for Mark Davis to eventually move to KLIF as part of the fray, I would bet.

That might make sense. Move Mark to mornings on 570 KLIF and Cumulus/Citadel could double the money they make.

Maybe BAP will pick Savage and drop that horrid Laura Imgraham. Her days are numbered anyways.

You must be kidding of course.

Savage is persona non grata on any ABC station in the universe. Savage hoped it'll change under Citadel but it didn't.

This goes back to 2003 the dispute with his SF home base station KSFO when his syndicator TRN and ABC couldn't agree to a new contract which also led to him being dropped from WABC in NYC.

I don't know about her days being numbered, but she's pretty horrid on and OFF the microphone. She's certainly a back-east uppity full-of-herself broadcaster. Mike Medved is another one like that. Savage is, quite frankly, so damn smart he's insane. You guys do realize this dude has three houses in SanFranSicko that he may broadcast from don't you? If the neighbors are cooking the wrong thing nextdoor and he doesn't like the smell or whatever, it's off to the next house. The only way the TRN board op knows where the freak will broadcast from is round-robining the ISDN numbers until they hear him. Does anyone else remember about 5 or so years ago when Savage went off on his board op before he was supposed to be on the air, and the board op had him potted up live on the air cussing over the intro bed? I sure wished I still had a copy of that one. It was too damn funny!

Dave Ramsey..... I turn the dial quickly when I hear his voice.....

If you've heard one turn-around story, you've heard them all....

If you've heard one admonition / lecture, you've heard them all... :D
