Michael Savage to make big announcement on return

http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/2012/10/update-from-michael-2/

I HAVE BEEN VERY BUSILY MEETING WITH MANY INTERESTED PARTIES OVER THE PAST WEEK.

MANY WOULD LIKE TO PARTNER WITH ME, AND I WANT TO THANK YOU, MY AVID SAVAGE LISTENER AND WEBSITE READER, FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE LEVEL OF LOYALTY AND SUPPORT.

WHILE I CANNOT DIVULGE MY DECISION AT THIS TIME, I CAN SAY I HOPE TO BE BACK WITHIN TWO WEEKS AND WITH THE MOST POWERFUL ANNOUNCEMENT IN MODERN RADIO HISTORY.

THANK YOU,

MICHAEL

You've got to be kidding Michael! Your good but not that good! "The most powerful announcement in modern radio history!?" Give us all a break already!

I'm not a big talk-radio follower, so I only tune in when I think I need to hear someone who sounds just like my Dad talking.

Perhaps by 'modern radio' he means just the past year or so?
That merely would mean a pronouncement thunderous enough to overwhelm Merlin News on FM in Chicago and New York, the Assumption of Kiss-FM by 107.5, CBS's move to nationwide sports and to FM sports in NYC, several other nationwide terrestrial radio upheavals, and maybe even going back to last October and Harold Camping's most recently postponed doomsday.

Well, 'two weeks' is also Halloween, for what it's worth.

Well if KGO-AM(Citadel Owned) can fire Karel in 2008 for questionable remarks and rehire him in 2010-2011 after doing his syndicated show. Can Savage get a second chance on KSFO-AM this time as a local host only for San Francisco or Move back to New York for WABC-770 or possibly 94.7 FM NYC.

We're talking about far different owners, so precedent is no guide. Citadel (and before it, the Mouse) were different companies with different ideas about what constituted good, salable, profitable radio. Cumulus is a clean slate for all these folks.

As to what they'll do with 94.7, the conventional wisdom is that it's a centerpiece of CBS Sports' deal with Cumulus on a national level. That pretty much excludes any conventional talk show. As far as WABC/770 is concerned, anything's possible given that they'll be losing a lot of Premiere product to WOR and Clear Channel in the coming months. Or else maybe Savage will cut a deal with Premiere and wind up back on WOR, this time as essentially an in-house show.

I just want to note that this release was in ALL CAPS. I guess it fits him. He does mostly SHOUT on the radio. ;D

Get Ready WOR will be coming to fm if not in the next few weeks then January 1st

Where? and not with (I'm sure) an average demo of 55+ that won't be helped just by being on FM.

Remember: just moving to FM is not a panacea for every format and every station. Stations need to have the right content, the right product in order to make the transition.

Witness FM News 101.9 - decent concept, horrid execution vs. two powerhouses in the format.

We'll find out in several months about WFAN vs. WEPN; if the programming stays the same as it is now, WFAN will likely continue to beat WEPN.
