Michael Tearson Here??

Hello,

I see Sam mentioned Michael Tearson.....Is Michael a member here? I did a project of early FM Radio in High School, primarily all in Philadelphia. I learned a bit about Michael Tearson back in that report, and also remember, in the movie "BLOW-OUT" with John Travolta, Michael Tearson had a part in that movie during the most climactic scene of the movie, filmed right here in Phila. Michael, I have been a fan since the Morning Zoo days, or earlier, and listened to you on MMR and also XPN.....and most recently on MGK....Great to have a Real Rock Legend still around. I love when your on the radio during Holidays, Learned alot from you....Ray

If you want to get in touch with him, I believe he has an account on Facebook.

Michael here. I am also on WMGK Saturdays 6-8 AM. That and the WBZC shows are products of my home studio LynTown Sound CFZ.

I'm just in my 2nd week back on Deep Tracks after 6 weeks off for knee surgery. Rehab is going quite well, thank you. And thanks to all the above for noticing this li'l grizzled old vet.

Michael, in the talent you miss thread, Lynn Kratz came up. Last I heard, she got her Masteres Degree, and was working in the Philadelphia Free Library System. Do you know her whereabouts?

mike my prayers are with ya on the knee surgery thing ive been there a couple times so i know how ya feel

anyway have you ever thought about going on the underground garage channel seems like a good fit for ya

First as the knee post op, I am doing really well, mostly due to a murderous regimen I subjected myself to for 5 months, a program I devised and designed which I called PREHAB. Paid off. Slated for 3 nights in and a walker to leave with as my dance partner, I was sprung after 2 nights and on crutches. Which everyone in the hospital said NEVER happens. Seems like I have heard that comment my whole life.

Lyn Kratz indeed is a working librarian, but I think she's in a college library. Which I'm not sure.

Asked if I have anything to do with WMGK HD2. No, I do not. One time I was asked if I'd be interested in essentially consulting or to a degree curating the channel, but never heard another word on that.

Bottom line on HD is nobody will put a penny into the product as there still is no ad money or revenue from HD. I have long said that HD is the new quad. Or was that the new Betamax? Or was that the new HD DVD?

I just do not see HD radio ever becoming a factor of any real impact.

Unless they gave away promotional radios as EZ-101 did years ago. But that would require the actual spending of money.

Say, do you think this mini-disk format will ever gain any traction?

It's not just mini-discs, all physical forms of music media are under the gun as the younger listeners tune out ever more from traditional media (radio, TV, CDs, etc) to concentrate on iPods and the like which they have total control over plus Internet. This new generation has none of the loyalties of us old coots.

They have no HISTORY with the older incarnations of music delivery. I think that is the deciding factor. I'm turning 52 on my next b'day. I currently have a Creative Labs Zen Vision M, which is my go to gadget, when I'm not streaming my music through Rhapsody. But, I still pull out the CD's and vinyl when I cannot get what I want from Rhapsody. There is quite a bit of my generations "musical stash" that is not available through Rhapsody. It's not a case of "loyalty", just familiarity, or the lack of it.
