Michaels And Layne Return July 30TH To 99.9 The Hawk

Anyone know the status of Kitty?

Also, the Hawk went from being number two to number one again, so does it really matter who is in the morning driver's seat? Like it or not, classic hits is the most popular format in the Lehigh Valley. There isn't anyone except Cat Country who can, at times, vie for the number one spot.

WEEX, in Easton, used to try really hard to be number one in the good old AM days but never had the range for it, although the heart and professionalism were ALWAYS there. It was a great station with great DJ's. At least this is my recollection as a kid in the 60's and 70's.

It seems only fitting that all of these years later, a station in Easton, Pa is consistently at the top of the ratings heap and has been for years.

There should be a lot of people that are happy about this, considering the uproar when Michaels and Layne left the last time.

Good luck to both of them as well as Kitty!

yes HAWK is #1 12+ station.....that's all that has been posted...so far..

so Samantha went to B101...HAWK fired Rick... then B101 got rid of Samantha(rumor)...so HAWK REHIRES both ...

all after bringing back KEN & KITTY for BIG $ (3rd time always the charm)...then Ken Anderson left for San Fran ?

is it safe to say they'll dump Kitty?....and perhaps bring Ken back with Kitty if ken loses his gig in San Fran

I hope Rick is getting at least what they paid KEN ANDERSON.......

What will Kitty do... LOL Now that's a great question -- so let me answer that for you:

I will continue to work on the old farmhouse Aaron and I bought once we got back to the Valley...

I will do what I have to to live until I decide I want to move to another city and state (AGAIN -- thanks Ken Anderson.) I am thinking of staying with Nassau, since the company is one of the best to work for. Not too large to be just another jock in their midst. Depends on what happens here in the Valley, I guess. I an move tomorrow if that's what I want, but no matter what happens, I will continue to live my life.

After moving around a few times and then coming home for the THIRD time, long enough for the person I teamed with for 10 years to just pick up and leave because it's what he wanted, I can honestly say there's no place like home. And add to the mix that the hubby and I have fallen in love with our farmhouse, and really cant sell right now even if we wanted to because it needs SO much work that we'd not make any money on it -- that means we're here until we either get some things finished, or I get lucky and another radio station in the area picks me up. As all of you know, the Valley's pretty stable when it comes to radio -- and there are people with tons of talent (Ken Matthews!) who are still waiting for someone to pick them up... but ZZO would be my main interest, since they're ROCK, and Clear Channel has fallen down since Cat & The Hawk have come to town... just my opinion, and that means nothing to anyone but myself.

I could have stayed in Cinci after Ken and I lost our gigs, but it would have been without Ken, and with another partner. Looking back in retrospect, I should have taken the company's offer and stayed put. But then I wouldnt have had the chance to come back home, meet some terrific people and get this sweet farmhouse!

As for "reteaming" with Ken, that will NEVER happen. I would rather be able to go on the air and be MYSELF than have to be portrayed as a woman who is ditzy, does nothing but whine, and have no real strengths in anything but partying or sleeping around while she was in High School. I'm not saying I didnt do some REAL stupid things 10 years ago or so, but those days are far behind me. I started radio as TJ McVay, and I will be more than happy to KILL KITTY MCVAY to bring back TJ, who was herself and nothing more... I say what I think, and there are people out there who appreciate that. I've never been a "weak" woman, so I wont start being one now. After working alone in Texas and then here, I've learned that working alone made me stronger, and I've never been sorry for the experience, just as I'm not sorry at this very minute. I saw the numbers with Ken, and I've seen the numbers without him... I think I'm gonna be FINE without him. No, I KNOW I'll be FINE WITHOUT him...

so, I will take the wonderful experience I had at The Hawk working alone, thank them for giving me the chance to prove that I dont need Ken, and work on my house. If any of you want to get in touch with me to argue anything I've posted, you can email me at:
[email protected] (yeah, I'll change that when I move to another station, whether it be here or the next city and state I move to).

I'm proud to be able to say that I DID do mornings alone, and while I wasnt allowed to do contests, phoners or topics and told to "just play music", I still managed to at least TRY to keep it real, local and be myself. If you want BULLS#!T, listen to someone else in the morning. After doing radio since 1994, I can say that we all know how this business goes. If you do it as your MAIN career, you get kicked, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and then get back on that horse...

so there's MY story --

you all have a great day! Now, go do something PRODUCTIVE!

Much love to everyone who's got my back! And to those of you who dont, keep your chin up... life always has a way of flipping and showing you there's a reason to keep forging ahead...

Rock on TJ aka..kitty....

honest, informative...and you IDENTIFIED yourself !

pretty cool(rare) for this board....

Good Luck & thanks for the plug.

Keep pluggin Kitty. My best decision was getting out of radio after starting as an intern in 1992. 15 Years in radio was enough for me and I'm only 34. I got out because it wasnt fun anymore and it sounds that way on the radio these days.

Just to stay active you could volunteer at WDIY and do a "Blend" airshift from 1 to4. Not only would you be able to fulfill your radio fix, but you will be exposed to great, exciting, vibrant music that the corporates ignore. www.wdiy.org.

hey pickle.. real talent deserves to recieve a paycheck.. not pimp 5 yr old mustard packets for free for timmer.

and the best idea i heard was keep the show Ken and Kitty.. just call it "The Real Ken and Kitty Show" and substitute a real lehigh valley talent ken matthews who actually wants to STAY in the area and not shaft his listeners or his station.... and that combo would be number 1 on ANY Lehigh Valley station because they have both done it b4 and would do it again.. and now that its almost been 2 yrs that he's been off the air it goes to show that the management teams of Lehigh Valley stations all rode the Little Yellow bus to school.

WWYY is whats killing ZZO, especially to the north. think about it, ZZO = Boring, WWYY = Loud and Rocking. The Hawk hurts ZZO only because 9 out of every 10 songs ZZO playes, is more Hawk music. when, ZZOshould be picking up their pace in the rock music and get on some heavier music. you would think they would be giving the bone a run for their money, but instead their practically giving all their listeners to WWYY. but then again, it is clearchannel, who automatically assume the #1 spot, even though all their stations suck. (WRFF being the exception).

ok lets get this thread back on track.

I agree that 107 The Bone is better then 95.1 WZZO however at least where I live at the west end of the Lehigh Valley WZZO usually comes in much better than 107 The Bone. As far as I know 107 The Bone is related and aired with 99.9 The Hawk and I dont really listen to 99.9 The Hawk but as far as I know 99.9 The Hawk comes in clear in west Lehigh Valley. That does not stop me from playing 107 The Bone more then 95.1 WZZO though (95.1 I still play because it is a Lehigh Valley classic with a lot of rock variety) but unless you hear from someone about 107 The Bone it will be hard to discover. I first discovered the Bone due to the fact that I listen to a classic rock station 107.5 Frank FM (Because I like some classic rock and that is 100 percent better than the Hawk) and and I think it was around the time the station came I went to tune Frank FM which is 107.5 on my alarm clock and I heard a rock song in the 107 area and discovered a new station. All I could suggest for 107 The Bone is to raise there frequency and to replace Free Beer and Hot Wings with 94 WYSP(former hard rock station , similar to 107 The Bone) DJ who actually got fired before station switched format but he was a good DJ and if he is willing to move near by he would be perfect for 107 The Bone , I prefer to listen to 95.1 WZZO's Bearman and Keith, 107.5 Frank FM's Ken and Jen, or 93.3 WMMR's Preston and Steve over 107 the Bone's Free Beer and Hot Wings Morning show.
