Michele McPhee Joins Channel 5

Great. I really like Jen Brien. She'll do a great job. Avi would have been good, too, but maybe he doesn't want a 5 day a week gig.

I agree. btw I don't know if Avi is "retired" from his reg. job or what but I think I heard he was or is a physicist...Again, this is from someone who had heard Michele mention it on her show (I had tuned in a few days ago and she did say at least she would leave the radio show in Sept. when she starts her new job). Maybe RKO will launch the news about Brien in a couple weeks, when McPhee leaves.

This also no doubt means it's doubtful you'll hear McPhee fill in for Howie anymore (maybe once in awhile, though?), which is good news for those Howie fans who aren't too fond of her voice. (I still remember last year during the election night for Scott Brown when she was still on WTKK, doing a live broadcast from F1 in Braintree and she shreiked MICHAEL GRAHAM IS IN THE HOUSE!!!! at one
point. Ouch, my ears...a parent in that situation would have said, "Michele, dear, please use your
'inside voice'" :) She has mentioned she's deaf in one ear which might explain the, er, overmodulation...she can't quite judge she may be talking too loud.

Further confirm. in this tweet to me by Mark S of Boston Radio Watch:

>>Yes,she has mentioed it a few times when I scanned by this week. One caller asked if it's a 'girl from the Cape' - Jen Brien.Yes!

Aside from the fact that she is way too full of herself and she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, her voice and diction makes me think that I am hearing a broadcast from a third story porch in Revere.

Are you referring to Brien or McPhee. The woman screaming off a third flor porch in Revere was used by a scribe to discribe McPhee. I hate to be negative but I don't think Brien brings anything to the table. She is just another host I will not be listening to.

enjoyed McPhee when she was paired with McGrory, he's so urbane and she's so unpolished, reminded me of ITV's the Avengers from the sixties

I was a long time viewer of WCVB that switched to WBZ-TV about 18 months ago. IMHO, the only quality news organization left on the Boston TV dial.

Perhaps Peter Blute will replace McPhee at WRKO.
WCVB is totally influenced by chs 7 and 25 they saw mcphee on 25 and had to hire her and they've gone downhill since natalie jacobson retired in 2007 by the way ch 7 and 25 don't give a rats ass what wcvb does or doesn't do.

Brien is now officially the holder of the 1-3 pm slot. Michele starts on 5 on Sept 6, but
officially her slot is now the Jen Brien show

from WRKO facebook:
>>The WRKO family would like to welcome Jen Brien to the 680AM airwaves. Tune into Brien's debut starting at 1 p.m. She will be taking over the 1-3 p.m. spot in our weekday lineup. Click the like button to welcome Jen!

oh god, can't they find a different press photo for her? I think that's the same one TKK had on their site for a hundred years. Her hair is a mess and it looks like she had someone swing something at her face on one side and it's caved in/crushed in
Aren't you the same one that had a problem with John Dennis' weight? I guess appearance is important to you.

I find her easy to look at and I agree with most of what she says. It's that horrible Boston accent, complete with the characteristic bad grammar, that I find very off-putting.

I've always had to laugh at people from around here who look down their noses at southern accents. If they only knew how they sounded to others, they'd lose their superiority complexes.
