MICHELE PILENZA: BACK TO THE BOARDWALK

Michele Pilenza is doing "Under The Boardwalk" for a second week (this week, she does not have to do the SoJo Morning Show, as well, according to Carton and Rossi). Carton and Rossi said on the air tonight that management has decided to offer her the show, all that's left is to negotiate the contract. C&R said on the air (and Michele confirmed) that she has a meeting with management tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, reportedly to discuss the deal. Looks like they are not going to further on-air auditions.

she want's it bad and is tired of getting up a 3:30am, Like the Show or not She is the best Candidate and will get better as weeks go by.

I have to disagree with you as to who is best for the job. Michele Pilenza sounded good at first but her voice is very grating and high pitched. I know C&R have been pushing her but it would be a mistake if she got the job.

Wanting the does not mean she will - or should - get the job.
Lots of people wanted the job.
When you say she WILL get the gig, that sounds like you are stating a known fact; later you say it's an opinion.
IMHO: I thought she did well when I've heard here but I'm not doing the hiring. I'm not even in the show's target audience. My opinion doesn't count. Heck, I thought they should NOT hire Miss New Jersey and they didn't listen to me then.
C&R played a clip from one of her old newscasts. Her vocal delivery has improved and it still could use some work. But she seems to handle the show and the format well, and her on-air personality works very well in this setting.
 
Fred, you are so right. Wanting it does not mean you will get it but Craig pretty much said yesterday that it was her job. Either the station has already made up their mind or else Craig is trying to influence them by backing management into a corner.

I agree. I was responding to Jon who seemed to be saying she would get the job because she wants it. She gets it because they want her to have it. Maybe she wants it and therefore that influenced her performance. Maybe management this time would rather give the job to somebody who really wants it (it doesn't make the station look good to go through another star search after a couple of months).

In any case, we will all find out for sure soon enough (maybe today). I doubt the contract negotiations will take too long. This is a big break for Michele and unless she is getting other offers we don't know about, she's not in a position haggle (maybe next time around).
 
Congratulations to Michele for getting the gig! (I was one advocating for it.) I just checked the SoJo website, and she is listed for the 10AM-3PM, with Marc Miller doing the morning drive. Joel Katz got "The Donald"? WOW!

Fours for show prep and stuff?
Helluva schedule.

You know there is such a thing as voicetracking... Major market stations voicetrack middays, why not triple-digit market ones?

Hopefully they've ditched that stupid "Under The Boardwalk" program name and will allow Michele to brand herself as a talk host... Titles for radio talk shows (other than ones using the hosts' names) make the stations they're on sound like small-market crap, not to mention waste valuable branding opportunities for stations to market personalities they're surprisingly paying for...

All right... what about "Jersey Guys" then, probaby the most well-known brand 101.5 has right now?

Granted, it's kind of morphed in sweepers to "Jersey Guys - Carton and Rossi" - but they are still primarily known as the Jersey Guys.




For what it's worth, they are calling it "Nights with Michele" according to the 101.5 site...
