Michelle Jerson

WOW Now Michelle Jerson was fired From WKXW(101.5) This is her second time being Fired from that Station. I listened to her show when she did overnights her first time there(loved the show) but I did not listen to her last run there (After Hours)as I don't like that type of topics.

How much of that naive Valley Girl persona can a person take?

I was really not a fan of Michelle at night. When I did tune in it seemed like the same topics were being discussed each time. She discussed sex but never got into it, which made me think she was a little naive. I thought the other Michelle was better but I forget her last name.

That would be Michelle Pilenza, who was Dennis Malloy's mid-day sidekick while Judi Franco
was out sick.

That's a shame to hear. I was never a listener of her show (not my cup of tea) but I met her once through a mutal friend about 6 months ago and she was a very pleasant girl, real nice to talk to. Hope she lands on her feet elsewhere soon!

Nice to hear, although sad that Michelle is out of a job.

After Hours (nee Passion Phones) was always a weak spot since Millennium took over, IMO.

I remember listening to Cathy then Lauren (and before that Roberta then Jay), and while the topics were a bit fluffier, they were more Jersey-focused.

Relationship talk always seemed shoehorned in to me.

To be honest I never listened to her show except for a few days after the hurricane, and I thought she did a great job with that.

Bring Roberta Gale back...have her do it via Comrex from Arizona. One of the few female hosts who sound like they have more than cotton candy between their ears.

I'll add to that by saying Roberta is one of the few hosts who can do a successful, entertaining show by themselves. There's a reason Dennis is paired with Judi; why Deminski is paired with Doyle (and before them, also two co-hosts in the afternoon slot). They can play off of each other. In every case, the whole is worth more than the sum of their parts. Otherwise, it sounds like one person just rambling on and on, as Jim Gearhart often does.

I forgot about the jersey section of the board ;o)

Curious if anyone went to those single parties I've heard her advertise during I think it was Big Joe Henry. I was toying around with going to one of them.. guess I missed my chance now :)

Yes what is the deal with the single thing all of a sudden? I have noticed Dennis and Judy talking about a singles mixer. This has been done before and it's shelf life is extemely short. It was done in the 80's and we didn't have internet dating back then.

Too much like a big blind date.

Her old job is posted on Craigslist.

"New Jersey 101.5, The Nation's Number 1 FM Talk Station and New Jersey's Most Listened to Station (WKXW Trenton/Townsquare Media) has an immediate full-time opening for our Monday-Thursday 7pm to 11pm slot. Successful candidate has at least 3 years of hosting fast paced talk shows and has a background in Top 40 radio. Candidate knows how to play to short attention spans in our PPM world. Since we are "The Jersey Station," life experience living and working in New Jersey, as well as a strong knowledge of New Jersey news is a huge plus. Writing skills and blogging skills are necessary because we require our hosts to prepare content for our website. Please send an unedited aircheck of a show that actually aired."

So this is the 1st time EJ has ever done anything right! God knows he's a F**CK up otherwise. 101.5 is ok but Geartheart is old. D&D suck and Ray is ok... So the only good talent is Steve & Ray. and Steve is only "covering"

Having worked for EJ, I'd say he is one of the better PD's I have jocked for. He at least has a passion for the minutia of radio (airchecking me down to how tight my segs were), and had managed to keep 101.5 as THE "Jersey Station" over the years.

Still not a fan of the new beds and jingles, but eh. Still the loudest thing on the dial...and REVERB! :)
