'Corpulent' seems to be an exaggeration. While he was heavier than many of his contemparies, he wasn't nearly heavy enough to warrant that descriptor.

Yeah, you're right. He had a large gut, but only weighed about 210 pounds. Compare him to CC Sabathia or Sid Fernandez and he was almost svelte.
