Micro Trak 303 Tone Arm Cable

I recently bought a used vintage Micro Trak 303 tonearm and after I installed it there was hum on both channels but more so on the right channel.

Something along that length of wire causing the hum so I am thinking of gutting the cable which is sealed inside the wooden arm but I am having a hard time tracking down some fresh miniature four conductor braided, shielded cable to use.

Can anyone point me to a seller of something that might work?

Please don't tell me what crap this tonearm is or if I wasted my money.

Constructive replies only.

Thanks

Not that bad of a tone arm. Before cutting it open, I would check the continuity of both the shield and the leads with an ohmmeter. If that checks good, check cartridge and preamp connections. Some cartridges had a little tab that grounded one pin --lifting or connecting may make a difference.

Yes I am aware of the ground tab and I have cleaned it. I have another 303 wired exactly the same way and it is quiet as a mouse. I think it's the shielding. Someone in the past cut the length of this attached cable and it is really too short to dress it properly for tracking so I don't know if I have any other options but to replace it, if only to get the proper length back. Still hoping someone has a suggestion for some 4 cond. shielded cable.

Some of the 303's were wired different depending on the age. I have found some headshells also did not match the color of the cable when "rung out". You also may have an open shield around the pivot point. Good luck, it was a pretty foolproof arm....only if the made the headshell that would not accept coins to help tracking!
