GO...Can't stand these other lame subjects like the freaking KISS montage...who gives a rat's ***

For a home studio, I like the Shure SM7B. Works on a lot of different voices, and does not
pick up a lot of room noise. I have one.

For a compressor, the DBX286A can't be beat for the price. I have one, but don't use it.

I've gotten the best sound by using my Yamaha mixer pre-amps directly into the souncard.
Then, process in Adobe. I've tried and own too much equipment, and as is usually the case,
less is more.

I mainly do radio and tv commercials. For imaging, I'd prbably go for that "in your face" 416.

EV RE20 gets my vote. Sounds great and you can't kill it.

For something really funky, howza 'bout an Astatic D-104?

RCA DX 77's Can't beat em but I like u87's too.. At one time I had about 15 DX 77's I sold for about a hundred a piece..How dumb..They'll bring well over a grand today!

RE-20/27 or a Heil PR-40 and a Symetrix 528E- These 2 can please almost anyone without breaking the bank.

I have a RE-20 into a Valley 400.

I also have a MXL 990. Ok yeah it's a cheap condenser mic, but it sounds pretty nice.

Behringer B1 - and a 528E.. I cant STAND an RE20..

Yeah, I said it.. Whatcha gonna do about it.. LOL

I love my 416 but I'm finding its not right for all projects. The other day I had a commercial with a soft storyteller type read. The sibilance was killing me. So I switched to an RE 20, jacked up the gain on the M1 and it sounded great. I usually find the muddiness of the RE 20 to be a big negative so it doesn't get much use anymore but I keep it around for special occasions.

ARRGGHH !!!! HERESY !!! Are you made of wood?

Home:

416 paired with a Focusrite ISA 220 and the older Symetrix 528 (gate only)

Work:
RODE NT2 to a dbx286a. I was using a 528 til it went on the fritz last week. Have to get that fixed. :p

I really like the older 528s.

Looking at getting either a RODE tube or a Baby Blue Bottle. Eventually I'll also get a TLM103.

I too HATE the RE20. If I must use an EV mic I'll take the RE27 over the RE20.

I have a Valley 400 for sale. Works great!
