Mid-west and West Georgia

As most people know, there are a lot of local radio stations in the West Georgia and Mid-West Georgia area. Like many small markets, the turn around at small stations can be high. I was think about people who I have worked with over the past few years. Some folks I know where they are and have stayed in contact with them others I have wondered where they ended up after they left a group of stations

Tom Copper- (WBTR B-92 morning show host and Magic 98.1 FM host) After leaving B-92 in Carrollton, he sold cars at a couple of dealerships. From August of 2004-Jan 2005 was at Magic 98.1 FM. Last time I saw him (about 8 months back) he was still at Mike Bell Chevrolet in Carrollton.

J.B. Stevens-Magic 98.1 Afternoon Drive Host. I heard he quit Magic and was doing traffic for the CC traffic division. Is he still there or doing other things?

Lisa Lang (Morning show host and PD of WCKS Kiss 102.7 FM) she quit 3 months after I left B-92 and Kiss. I heard she went to Chattanooga shortly after and was doing radio at US 101-I think. I have heard anything since 2004. Anybody know if Lisa isstill in radio.

Cordrick Ramey-P/T at Kiss, WLBB and B-92. He left the group in April of 2003. Last time I heard anything he was at a recording studio in Carrollton that has long since gone under. Anyone know where he's at?

Pamela Scott-Magic and WVCC host. I heard after leaving Clear Channel of Newnan she was in New York. Anyone knowwhat station?

Johnny Lesak-I worked with Johnny on WVCC am 720 the Voice for a couple of months. Last time I talked to him he was in South Alabama. Is he still there?

Kurt Schinder-he was one of my favorite guests and a pretty good host. What happened after 720 went synicated?

I know this is going to sound bad but I never new JB's real name. Was it Josh Stein? I noticed Drew Nelson (2 time drive time host) is till at the river as Public Service Director. I check last year (late Jan or wealy Feb after he was let go anin by Magic) that he was doing some behind the scenes tech work If anyone knows Drew is he still doing dsome tech work?

I heard that Drew is now working at Album 88.

You are correct. Drew is at 88 as a DJ. 'Work' is a loose term since we don't get paid for being on-air.

Any time I've heard him, Joshua Stein's his (real) name on any other station than Magic 98.1.

Actually I had to skive off Album 88 this semester, got asked to start a public affairs show for 97.1 the River, which has been taking up most of my time. This will be the third week it airs.

How about the alumni of WUWG? I was at West Georgia College when the school changed it's name to The State University of West Georgia, and was production manager at the then WWGC when it flipped to the public radio format. A lot of folks have gotten their start at that station over the years. Since we have a "where are they now?" of West Georgia radio going here, I'll start off the WWGC/WUWG portion myself.

I'm currently working in Tampa, FL working for Metro Networks. My regular on-air gig is as the afternoon news & traffic guy on WRBQ, and I also do production for various radio and TV stations around the Tampa Bay area.

All current and Former WWGC/WUWG airstaff, please chime in here.

Some of the folks that I worked with there: Station Manager Kevin Sanders, Producer Joe Consoli, Talk show host Robert Ray, News Director Yvonne Elm, Program director Teri Lampery, Music Director Brooks Robinson, "Bluestown USA" host Josh "Fuhd" Barnes, "Infomusic" host Cris "Stoney" Lozano and Jazz show host Errol Crane.

Thanks,
Rob

Well Rob,
kevin Sanders is the only one there now. I "worked" at WUWG in 2003. Cordrick Ramey, Emily Alexander and Steve Sedberry were the only regulars there besides the bluegrass show. Cordrik and I worked together by as stated...no longer there. Emily and Steve have long since gone in the past 4 years. I am actually talking to Kevin to see if he need some help since he is the lone on air guy at the station. Kevin used to work at WPPI AM 1330 which is now WLBB 1330 (the station is on Newnan road besidePhillps Body shop). Its actually funny that you can see where the old WPPI letters were on the building. Speaking of WPPI...I know Tom Cooper was there at one point before starting at WBTR and so was Kevin Sanders. Kevin told me once that when tom quit he handed Kevin the keys to do the Sat. Morning shift because Tom knew Kevin , who was in sales at the time, wanted to be on air. I think Jim Beck was News Director at WPPI and fora year or so, hedd the Monday morning edition of The Communithy Voice on WLBB. Are there any WPPI eployees out there? Oh I happened to find an old WPPI magnet
