MIDDLEBORO FM (WRRS 88.5) NOW ON

About a week ago the new Middleboro FM on 88.5, WRRS, made it's debut. It carries the Talking Information programming from Marshfield 24/7. The signal seems to be what you would expect for the 700 or so watts it's putting out from the WVBF tower off Plymouth Street in Middleboro.

If somebody swears on-air, is the fine $275,020?

lol, yeah I've heard that stuff in the past as well.

You gotta wonder how many people are still even using this service? All the blind people I know aren't using it, they're using screen readers on computers. Isn't anyone who is blind also eligible for a free SCA radio? Seems like a lot more good could be done with this signal than this...

Seems like a big waste of a signal to me as well.

It's only 400 watts at 131 feet HAAT, so I don't know how far it will go. It is relatively flat in that part of the state. But how many blind people are in the service contour?

I would have LMA'd the main signal, gone IBOC for the only reason of putting the reading service on an HD-2. Some church group or other non-profit would pay to be on it.
