MIDNIGHT AT THE OASIS

Somebody put in late hours working on this e-mail that hit my inbox:

OASIS RADIO GROUP
Ft Wayne IN (market rank 106)

RECRUITING FOR:
Account Manger (sic) to sell three station combo
Lists open paying between $50,000-$70,000 annually
Oasis is a growing company...up 2% year-to-date, while many large markets are down 25-30%. Oasis plans to build a new facility within 12 months.
Oasis management team members are all former major market personnel.
Oasis is run live and local. All "jocks" are live 24/7.

Oasis Radio Group is a young and growing broadcast company that will provide you with resources to build and operate the department.

Put your camel to bed.

My favorite line from the song,

And you won't need no camel, no no
When I take you for a ride

One of the sexiest songs of all time. Maria Muldaur was sexy as well when that song came out. But I digress.....

Very very sexy! There was a lot of camel friendly music back in the 70s. Don't forget Clyde:

Cute (and slightly naughty) song

WNDE,WERK and WMEE played it to death back in the day....Top 40 was starting to get just a little bit rank at that time too!

"I'll be your bellydancer....prancer

And you can be my sheik!"

Wish she could have had more hits...she fizzled after "Waitress In A Donut Shop."
Loved her unique voice!

I didn't realize that VOICE TRACKING on overnights was now considered 'LIVE 24/7.'

Not defending Russ O's operation, but I suspect the advertisement was typed up before the latest round'o'cuts at Goshen Road (where if you're not at Mattress Warehouse, you're in the wrong place!)

At least human beings are the air, instead of liners for "the most music and fewest commercials"

Joe excluded, but of course.

After typing the word "operation" above, I feel compelled to get the board game out the closet.

Bzzt!

The quotes around the word "jock" might be a hidden clue. We're not really quite sure what these so-called "jocks" are, but they're live 24/7.

BTW, THANKS, I'll be hearing that song in my head all day now! Camels got a bad reputation after Joe the Camel got yanked off (no pun intended) cigarette ads for looking obscene. He was just lonely and looking for a good hump...or 2.

If I'm reading the ratings correctly, looks like WKLU continues to drop - now down to a 2.9 overall --

is this the book with Pidgeon?

Proof again that money can't buy quality, creativity OR ratings.

What's needed to turn WKLU around?
