Might be too early to speculate, but....

With the #5 and #6 place networks pooling their resources in September, anyone think that the Super Bowl might someday be on the CW?

Might not be 'til sometime in the '10s, mind you, but I wouldn't rule anything like that out just yet. They might want to take a cue from Fox and establish their audience, start out with a grab for the Emmy rights first, and who knows? Maybe after a few breakout shows a la Simpsons or Al Bundy, they could get ready for the big time.

Just my $ 0.02.

It will go to cable before they put on the WC

I believe the answer is NO because the NFL network is already going to carry some games in the fall. (they didn't before)
Before this speculation can come about, the better specualtion question is, How long before NFL network somehow manages to get the rights to the Super Bowl?

The BEST question in this thread is wether or not the chances of NFL network getting the super bowl are any better than CW getting them any time soon?
(or perhaps I mean, instead of CBS deciding to keep it on CBS if CW could get the rights...)

Good point. As long as CBS has an interest in the network it won't come into it's own. CBS would not allow it. Think of CBS as the body and the CW as a foot. As important as the foot is, you wouldn't think twice of cutting it off if it was causing the body to whither and die
