I wonder what you guys think of AM 1190 in Dallas. They will play no spots until Labor Day. Here is their playlist. How does it compare to the variety format? They do not use a first name for the station and they are all automated.

Do you know how large their playlist is? An ordinary Classic Hits would play all these songs also. The difference between them and Variety Hits is solely one of degree. . .
 
I don't live in Dallas, but I visited there yesterday. 1190 likes to play the Classic Hits, but then they will throw in something from 1988 or 1989. They will also go back to 1955 sometimes.

I look at their list on yes.com sometimes. I may go back there just to tape it for about eight hours and also record KEOM, a non commercial all seventies hits station.

Yeh, check them out at yes. I love that kind of stuff, but most people don't. I am aware of that. I am going up there to record 1190 AM for a whole day, so I will always have an aircheck of them.

This station is skewed more to the seventies than a later decade.

someone had posted the first hour of 1190 a month ago and i downloaded it and listened to it...i loved it. i wish i could have been able to pick it up, because i would be a listener 4 life (or whenever the station changed format - lol)

It all depends on who they're going after. if they're attempting to be an AM version of JACK, they have no chance (and that's what this list looks like).

What a gawd-awful mix of music. I can't see much of anyone sticking around thru a schizophrenic mix like that. Does anyone give this station more than 6 months before they're ESPN, Air America or brokered religion?
