"Mighty 670" Goes Talk

I noticed today 7.1.08 that Horne Radio's AM 670 WMTY has flipped to talk from the Mighty 670 Oldies format.
Does anyone know the skinny on this?? It is far and away the best AM signal they have to try something with. I believe it's seperate from "The Network" but I'm not positive.

I didn't figure the oldies would last once 98.7 went with Scott Shannon's oldies format. Actually, I thought 670's selection of oldies was quite repetitious; they were better with the old school R&B format they had a few years ago.

I'm glad to have another talker in town. WKVL 850 is just a total waste with their paid shows, and WETR 760 doesn't have many decent shows (plus they have an awful signal).

Anyone know WMTYs lineup yet. So far, Dennis Miller's show is all I've caught.

670 was airing the same programming as 850 this Saturday.

?????????????

So far, all I've heard during the day is Dennis Miller. I think he airs live from 9 till noon, but they seem to be replaying the show again from noon till 3pm. Maybe they are just filling space till they get more contracts signed. Also, I wish Horne would get their computer audio problems fixed. The shows have constant glitches and dropped audio that sounds like internet buffering. Do they get their feeds online instead of from satellite? Anyway Horne has always had this issue going back 8 or 9 years when 105.3 was talk.

The problem is their satellite dish. They have an undersized dish and get interference from an adjoining satellite that causes the audio drop out... It's especially bad on the Starguide II they get Dennis Miller from, although they do get some drops on the other receiver too.

They're running Michael Savage in the morning. Now there's something to make the cornflakes go down better.

And they're running Savage's network mate Jerry Doyle in afternoons.

That sounds cool, I'll have to check them out occasionally. Hopefully they willnpick up another midday show also instead of repeating D. Miller's show. Wonder why they don't pick up Bill O'Reilly's show? He's on the same network as Dennis Miller and no one is airing him in town. I listen to his show on Sirius everyday and its one of my favorites. Also, I'm a bit surprised they didn't pick up Glenn Beck. His show is the biggest that isn't currently airing in town.

Hey Doug,

Get out there and get the crud blown off your dish, get the satellite guys to come and align it, and maybe put in a new LNB if they have to, and stop this audio dropout problem. You're up there on that big 'ol hill, so I know you can get to sky somehow. Then maybe, people will not get annoyed trying to listen for more than two minutes!

You are in a game you can win...if you try.
