Mighty Mike Workin' Nights

Have heard WODS a few nights since the Christmas music ended, and each time have heard Mighty Mike Osborne working the night shift. Has WODS dropped Tom Kent? If they did, nothing against Mighty Mike, but why didn't they move the smooth Patrick Callahan back into that shift?

Checked the WODS website, but they don't list anyone after JJ from 2-7.

I could go for that... Tom Kent's syndicated show, to me, sounds obnoxious and out of place. Nothing against the guy, or necessarily his presentation, but the whole "TK, TK, TK" act seems like it belongs on a True Oldies Channel-type station, not one competing for adults against Bedtime Magic. Automation would be a step up.

Wow, I had just checked ODS's website a few days ago and Tom Kent was still listed so maybe they HAVE dropped him. I, too, find Tom Kent and his show obnoxious. Maybe I'll start listening again if Mighty Mike has the nightshift.

Perhaps changes are a-brewin'. And maybe they consider Mighty Mike more 80's oriented than Patrick if WODS has been moving away from oldies towards more 80s. Mighty Mike, after all, was well known for his "General Hospital updates" and 'Soap Sunday' on PRO-FM back in the 80s. ;D ;D

I enjoyed hearing him mornings on Z100/Providence too. "the new Zeee one HUNDREEEAD!!! ...hits of the 80s and more" The way he said it was classic, lol.

Tom Kent's show is probably a good product for a station in Lansing, or Brownsville, etc. You get a lively pro guy doing the night shift for very little money. But in any market that is competitive, I can't see how "TK,TK, TK" is relevant programming.

They did have Kent on New Yrs Eve of course

The "TK, TK, TK" thing--might make people think of a Greater Media station's call letters :) (WTKK)

>>seems like it belongs on a True Oldies Channel-type station

yup

It's interesting that they've taken several other people off the website recently, but Dale Dorman remains. I wonder if it's possible that he will return for a weekend shift at some point? Someone did mention a while back that he may be having health problems, though nobody ever did really confirm that.

Back to the subject... Tom Kent was still listed until very recently, may have even been taken off as recently as yesterday.

It's odd that they still don't have a picture of Mighty Mike. They should just steal this one, lol... http://web.archive.org/web/20010628...974749695218560&PG=01006013680974749695324657

Does it matter if a jock is "oriented" to a particular era? Wouldn't the PD make the call on the music content, regardless of who's behind the mic?
