Mike Adams gone wild

I have read this message board for a while and not felt any reason to post anything. Mike Adams comandeering the WEEI studio is worthy of my comment. I have to believe that this is scripted or planned or an act or however you want to put it. If it is scripted, Jason Wolfe and Mike Adams are brilliant. If not scripted this is the most compelling/dramatic radio I have heard in a while. Don't really have an opinion on Mike Adams in general, but after a stunt like this, I don't know if anyone outside of Cleveland will be hearing him for quite some time.

It seems like a joke to me. They need to hurry up and end it, hopefully with the announcement that he's getting the gig.

of COURSE it's scripted... good night for it... no Pats game.. not much Red Sox talk and no one cares about the Bruins or Celtics... so it's a good night for an extended skit...

but it's still buffoon radio and I'm glad I had on Michael Felger driving home and missed this nonsense

The sound quality changed dramatically when Wolfe came on the air.

Also, Ordway and The Meat would never be part of such a stunt if it wasn't staged. Even though they were "locked out" of the studio, they would have shut and pretend to have nothing to do with it if it was real.

And if it was real, Jason Wolfe would have hung up to avoid having the conversation on air.

Pathetic, but funny.

<font color=blue>Too bad he's not on FM (7-10pm)tonight, AM barely makes it 20m south. Anyway, it's performance art, not talk radio: all part of the success formula.</font>

Although it was definitely staged, I love WEEI's loose rules about talking about the behind-the-scenes stuff that radio geeks love. When Neumy left, his departure was widely discussed by other hosts -- and the "Neumy Guy" still makes the occasional phone call to the Whiner Line! The bashing of Ted Sarandis only intensified after he left. And the weird part about the Mike Adams stunt was the overt put-downs of "Jeff from Atlanta," one of the other finalists for the night slot. But nonetheless, it was very entertaining radio indeed.

Yes scripted. He's playing this "I don't have a job" schictk too far for anyone with a hint of intellect to buy. Enough Mike...get down to hosting and leave the driving to us.

I heard it, too; on some sites/boards (like Boston Sports Media or
here) it was said that Adams getting the slot was pretty much a done
deal, and any on-air jabbering about 'EEI dragging their feet
on giving him the slot was simply goofing around.

So tonight, Mike supposedly locked himself in the studio (heavy bookcase
next to the door) and said that he had a deadline: he had to know NOW
if WEEI was giving him the show, permanently. If not, he'd be accepting a job doing overnights in Cleveland (what, WKNR? I would highly doubt a Cle.
station would have live and local overnight sports talk. If WEEI wouldn't go
for live/local overnight, WKNR surely wouldn't).

Finally about halfway through--9:40 pm, Jason Wolfe called in and said
his cell phone battery was dead from having to answer all the calls
(we have his private number?) and he'd gotten about 1,000 emails
begging them to officially hire Mike. "I'm offering you the job."
Mike gratefully accepted and it was said he officially starts tomorrow
night, name of show to be determined. Later, Fox Sports Radio's JT The
Brick (also on EEI) congratulated Mike on officially inheriting the Sarandis time slot, and he also praised Wolfe.

A stunt? I'm guessing yes. But you did tune in, didn't ya..I kept going between
that and political talk; something about a governor announcing he wouldn't
run again...

The announcement officially came (yup, I think it was a scripted stunt) about
9:40 pm. It was mostly a Mike-praisefest (and yes, I think he's deserving)...
once in awhile someone actually talked sports.

Dick Robinson from Mike's alma mater, Connecticut School of Broadcasting,
pledged he'd remove his ads if they didn't give Mike the job. Other callers
said they had businesses and would buy air time from WEEI if they gave
the job to Mike, etc.<P ID="signature">______________

Yeah, there were references during the Whiner Line to Eddie A.;
someone would mention the "other station" Mike worked for, and a tape
either of Eddie or a soundalike played: "well, hi, howaya..."

I remember when Eddie A. was still at WEEI, one of Ted's intros featured
Eddie praising Ted. Needless to say, that intro was junked once Eddie
jumped to 1510...<P ID="signature">______________

Scott's Shots on the WEEI stunt

http://www.bostonsportsmedia.com/shots

“This is so funny, it’s weird though. I know it’s going to piss people off,” said Adams, who has worked with the station in some capacity, for almost a decade. “This is all too good. I’ve pulled some stuff in 30 years, but this is a good one. And there’s no violence, you know that, right?”
FOX 25 had already been in to get video for its 10 o’clock news, virtually ensuring that the stunt would generate attention and garner listeners. (Something Adams is good at even without stunts, pranks and mischief. But this one is gold, for sure.)"

Of course it was a stunt...the first clue was right at the beginning..."I'm taking over the studio and not leaving until Jason tells me either way" Now if this was really the case, Entercom would have had police everywhere, and the National news would've been all over the fact that "A crazed radio host took a studio hostage"

But it was fun to listen to, it was cute. I'm glad he got it, it's well deserved.

All the "impromtu" sales calls that were "unplanned" (they were planned?? LOL) Were ok, actually Dick Robinson did seem like he didn't know what the heck was going on LOL But the guy from Modells shouldn't take up acting anytime soon. "Yeah, um.. this is very off the cuff, but were gonna give 1/2 off to listeneres of the show!" That was dumb.

But anyhoo.........

CONGRATULATIONS MR. NIGHT TIME HOST OF WEEI!!!!!!!

Now your first order of business.....do you what you promised:

Change the email so it's not [email protected]! LOL

>>Entercom would have had police everywhere,

At one point Mike joked, "oops, there's my cell phone...I think
it's some police department..."

Media Blitz on Adams stunt

http://www.bostonsportsmedia.com/blitz/

"Around 9:30 p.m., Wolfe called Adams on the air and told him he had the gig. “I am moved by the amount of emails I have received,” said Wolfe. “We’d be honored to have you join our team.” Earlier, “Big Show” host Glenn Ordway had disclosed Wolfe’s email address on-air and encouraged people to send their thoughts."<P ID="signature">______________
