Indianapolis, IN – You welcomed him into your home for nearly four decades. Now get ready to welcome him back. Mike Ahern, the most well-known, trusted man in Indiana broadcasting returns to prime time television and MyINDY-TV 23 with a brand new show, MIKE AHERN: One on One, premiering May 12, 2011 at 10:30 p.m. on MyINDY-TV 23.
“I am delighted to be back on the air, especially with this new opportunity. In the past, I’ve reported what the news is, now I have the challenge to go in-depth with people whose names we know, but their stories may surprise us,” said Mike Ahern.
Back with a new talk show, Mike Ahern is going ONE on ONE with today’s biggest names and the people who have affected the way we live. As a former anchor for 24-Hour News 8, Ahern brought to his duties the perspective gained from growing up in Central Indiana. One of the many things he was best known for were his relatable ONE on ONE interviews. From asking former IU Head Basketball Coach Bobby Knight the tough questions, to sharing a laugh with everyone from the President of the United States to Walter Cronkite, Ahern’s unique interviews have always been an audience favorite.
“Few are as well-known or respected as Mike Ahern. We are proud to have him back on our air,” said Jeff White, WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV president and general manager. “We’ve worked with Mike to create a program that will provide viewers face-to-face conversations with the newsmakers that impact our lives.”
Ahern joined WISH-TV in 1967 and since then has been widely recognized for his outstanding news reporting and community involvement. He has received numerous awards and honors including three prestigious "Caspar" awards for hosting and co-producing his first magazine show, "30 Minutes." Ahern has been awarded Indiana’s highest honor, “The Sagamore of the Wabash” and the readers and editors of Indianapolis Woman and Indianapolis Monthly magazines named him "Best News Anchor" more than ten years in a row.
MIKE AHERN: One on One will premiere Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:30 p.m. on MyINDY-TV 23. It will air weekly on Thursdays with an encore presentation Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. on MyINDY-TV 23.
