Mike and the Mad Dog

Anybody listen to Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN? I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do follow some things and since they are on YES, I watch them occasionally. If I'm in the car, I listen on 660.

Generally, it is a pretty good show. Sometimes its boring, but sometimes they talk about real interesting subjects.

Just a few days ago, they were discussing a game between Kansas and I think West Texas that took place in the 1960s. It was a very controversial game, apparently. They were able to get a CBS sports reporter and a former player on the Kansas team (basketball). I think his name was Jo Jo Judd or something like that. I'm off on the information. But generally, it was very interesting.

Anyone listen? Or watch?

Not me. I think sports radio is a waste of bandwidth.

But then again, so are most other current formats...

The game you're referring to is the one between Texas Western (now Texas-El Paso) and Kentucky that serves as the basis for the new movie "Glory Road". The CBS announcer they had on was Billy Packer, whom Mike & Chris believed was at the game, but wasn't. If memory serves, the player they briefly interviewed was former Boston Celtic Jo Jo White, who played at the University of Kansas. His team lost to Texas Western in the NCAA semifinals.

You've got the right info. Thanks. I thought Kansas was in the controversial game.

It was still great Mike and Chris were still able to get these guys on the phone.
